Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments Hope you enjoy Ward's Fallen Angels, CyberAlmu. I like them. The writing is somewhat similar to her BDB series, and like someone else mentioned, it's set in the same area. The baddie in this series is wicked. Love it.

Making my way through that one and will start another on my Kindle, maybe Drake's Asylum Tales or another new2me series. May continue on with Masters' Rescue Me series. Not sure yet.

I'm definitely planning to read Crane's Mr. Real!

message 103: by CyberAlmu (new)

CyberAlmu | 302 comments Thanks Steph!

Finished reading Dark Lover (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #1) by J.R. Ward and started Lover Eternal (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #2) by J.R. Ward . Love the BDB series and I'm happy they're in the group challenge!

Also started Spider's Bite (Elemental Assassin, #1) by Jennifer Estep and liking it!

I loved that trilogy so much and I cried so hard after the very last page, I think I'd been saving up my tears.

message 106: by Kerstin (new)

Kerstin | 862 comments Ames, I had a few tears flowing myself. Have you continued on with the series? I know future books are about different characters, so I just wanted to know if the stories are still as captivating?

Charlotte (Buried in Books) | 557 comments Just finished Matched - I won't be reading anymore of that series. Sooooooo depressing.

message 108: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments Oh -- tears? Wow. I need to bump that one up.

I didn't continue. I've always meant to but I think I was happy with the way it ended.

Yes, Regina, bump it up!

message 110: by Kerstin (new)

Kerstin | 862 comments Yes Ames, it was a very fitting ending for the trilogy!

I've finished Mr. Real (Code of Shadows, #1) by Carolyn Crane in pretty much one sitting and loved it!

Just started The Snow Child by Eowyn Ivey and it seems beautiful and heartbreaking so far.

message 111: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments I've started Crimson Frost (Mythos Academy, #4) by Jennifer Estep and Gwen is in trouble from the beginning :)

Kerstin 2 completely different type of books but both fantastic! I loved both. :)

So glad you enjoyed Mr. Real.

Reading Mortal Ties (World of the Lupi, #9) by Eileen Wilks and Cape Storm (Weather Warden, #8) by Rachel Caine for a buddy read.

Listening to Wanderlust (Sirantha Jax, #2) by Ann Aguirre audio next then Beautiful Creatures (Caster Chronicles, #1) by Kami Garcia which is currently discounted on iTunes. Must be a pre-movie promo thingie...

Alyssa (lyssad87) | 974 comments I just finished Destined by Jessie Harrell . Trying to decide what to read next. Maybe Nightshade (Nightshade, #1) by Andrea Cremer or Something from the Nightside (Nightside, #1) by Simon R. Green .

message 121: by Christal (new)

Christal | 374 comments The best books I've read this month are Ever After (The Hollows, #11) by Kim Harrison and Pivot Point (Pivot Point, #1) by Kasie West . I recommend those whole-heartedly.

I'm now reading A Conspiracy of Alchemists by Liesel Schwarz and so far, so good!

I loved Nightshade (Nightshade, #1) by Andrea Cremer sooo much....

message 123: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments LOL Sandra! No surprise there. ;)

I'm finding I have little time to read with all the RL crap going on, so I'm still slowly making my way through Once Bitten (Alexa O’Brien, Huntress, #1) by Trina M. Lee . I read the two prequels and enjoyed them enough to jump into book #1 right after. Interesting, just wish I could read more than a page at a time without RL-interruptions.

message 124: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments Me too Steph (re real life). And it sucks! I want to be able to read more!

I just finished and it is amazing Suite Française by Irène Némirovsky particularly the appendices. The author never finished her book as she was sent to a concentration camp in WW2 and there are letters in the back which document her husband's search for her.

I am now reading Quintana of Charyn (Lumatere Chronicles, #3) by Melina Marchetta and The One I Left Behind by Jennifer McMahon

Valerie ~ Val Hall ~ | 9662 comments Maybe I should look into the Alexa O'Brien, Huntress if you say the two prequels are good. On to some light reading. Shadow's Claim (The Dacians Realm of Blood and Mist, #1) by Kresley Cole , Kresley Cole never fail to delight me.

message 126: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments Yep, I've got the prequels & #1 in Alexa O'Brien as well. So looks like I should read them. LOL.

message 127: by Literary Ames (new)

Literary Ames (amyorames) | 1854 comments Finished and reviewed the brilliant The Purity Myth How America's Obsession with Virginity is Hurting Young Women by Jessica Valenti Rape Is Rape How Denial, Distortion, and Victim Blaming Are Fueling a Hidden Acquaintance Rape Crisis by Jody Raphael . And now NG has approved Sexy Feminism A Girl's Guide to Love, Success, and Style by Jennifer Keishin Armstrong so I guess I'm on a feminist streak. It's exhausting reading and reviewing non-fic. I think I need some fictional fluff to balance it out.

message 128: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments Ames, I knew you'd enjoyed the first couple, but yes!! you need to read something relatively light & fluffy!!!

message 129: by Tiffani (new)

Tiffani Day | 35 comments Val hall shadows claim was a great read

message 130: by Regina (last edited Jan 19, 2013 07:55AM) (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments Great review for the Purity Myth. I had issues with the style it was presented in. I have long wanted to write the book that the Purity Myth presents, I am glad that Valenti did so, b/c she got me off the hook, lol.

For a challenge I am starting the audio of How to Flirt with a Naked Werewolf (Naked Werewolf, #1) by Molly Harper

I am reading Quintana of Charyn (Lumatere Chronicles, #3) by Melina Marchetta and damn it is good. But I forgot so much.

message 131: by Literary Ames (last edited Jan 19, 2013 08:43AM) (new)

Literary Ames (amyorames) | 1854 comments LOL. Thanks, Regina. The masculinity chapter was something I'm glad she highlighted. We get all this talk about women and little on the state of men.

Currently reading: Lucifer's Daughter (Princess of Hell, #1) by Eve Langlais It's fun so far, which is exactly what I need.

message 132: by Literary Ames (new)

Literary Ames (amyorames) | 1854 comments Finished Lucifer's Daughter (Princess of Hell, #1) by Eve Langlais Origins The Fire (MILA 2.0, #0.5) by Debra Driza and I'm part way through Warm Bodies (Warm Bodies, #1) by Isaac Marion . I'm looking forward to seeing the movie.

Valerie ~ Val Hall ~ | 9662 comments Amy or "Ames" wrote: " I'm part way through Warm Bodies (Warm Bodies, #1) by Isaac Marion. I'm looking forward to seeing the movie."

Is the book good? I keep seeing the previews and wonder if I should read the book. The only problem is that i don't really like YA that much.

Charlotte (Buried in Books) | 557 comments I bought that yesterday - but I'm a little bit frightened, I don't do zombies.

The only ones I have read were the Forest of Hands and Teeth books (but I don't really count those as Zombie books).

message 135: by Literary Ames (last edited Jan 19, 2013 03:14PM) (new)

Literary Ames (amyorames) | 1854 comments It depends on whether you can enjoy the funny without questioning the logic. It's less Walking Dead and more Shaun of the Dead. It's also a Romeo & Juliet retelling. And the author got into it about the YA classification, he thinks it's an adult book. You could split the diff. and can call it New Adult because the couple are in their late teens, early twenties.

Valerie ~ Val Hall ~ | 9662 comments Thanks Amy. For right now, I'm reading One Salt Sea (October Daye, #5) by Seanan McGuire .

Jean ~ Kindle Queen (jkat9) | 370 comments Valerie ~ Val Hall ~ wrote: "Thanks Amy. For right now, I'm reading One Salt Sea (October Daye, #5) by Seanan McGuire."

Alyssa, it was 5 stars for me and I'm not big on YA but this series just keeps hitting all the right notes.

Action aplenty, mean girls & boys, and whilst the gang is all around, this one seems to be more Gwen with a side order of Logan. And plenty of Reaper action as well.

Tiffani Day | 35 comments Finished Justice (Species4) Rhisnis my favorite of the series so far, starting book 5 Brawn.

message 143: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments I enjoyed Warm Bodies. Different and funny. Looking forward to the movie.

I enjoyed the Alexa prequels, but I gotta say Alexa is starting to bug me in Once Bitten (Alexa O’Brien, Huntress, #1) by Trina M. Lee . She's one of those women who gets what she wants then constantly moans about it. Bleh. Making it really hard for me to be excited about reading it when I do actually have the time to read. Frustrating! Aside from Alexa though, I'm LOVING the world and the other characters. It's just that the story is about her, so there's not enough of the other. What started as a possible 5★-read is slowly losing stars as I get closer to the end.

message 144: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments LOL.

I've started Cold Sight (Extrasensory Agents, #1) by Leslie Parrish and the writing is good, but a creepy serial kidnapper/murderer type story .... is scary!!!!

message 145: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments >;)

Cool! I think I have that one and the second one too maybe.

message 146: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments I've got #2 on wishlist, thought I better read #1 first before splashing out, unlike the usual :)

Sandra | 25908 comments Finished Cold Sight (Extrasensory Agents, #1) by Leslie Parrish whilst it was well written, it just wasn't for me.

And started my re-read of Sins of the Demon (Kara Gillian, #4) by Diana Rowland so I can read Touch of the Demon (Kara Gillian, #5) by Diana Rowland

message 149: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments I didn't like it either Sandra. I think I DNFed it.

message 150: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)
