Tiffani Day | 35 comments Half way through with Brawn, Edge of Dawn just might have to wait a day this is becoming my new fave of the series

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments :( Bummer. I like gritty, so many I'd like it more. We'll see. SO many others have priority.

Finally finished Once Bitten. NOT jumping into #2. I need a break from Alexa's dramas. Oh I dislike love triangles. Bleh!

Not yet sure what I'll start next.

Sandra | 25908 comments Just finished my re-read of Sins of the Demon (Kara Gillian, #4) by Diana Rowland and started Touch of the Demon (Kara Gillian, #5) by Diana Rowland both fantastic!

message 157: by Tiffani (new)

Tiffani Day | 35 comments Brawn, New Species series was the best in the set so far. I'm moving onto Wrath the next book because Edge of Dawns release date must of been moved, darn it I got so excited when my calendar reminder went off!

message 158: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments I finished Quintana of Charyn (Lumatere Chronicles, #3) by Melina Marchetta and it was freaking fantastic!

I am enjoying the audio of How to Flirt with a Naked Werewolf (Naked Werewolf, #1) by Molly Harper and I am returning back to The One I Left Behind by Jennifer McMahon

Well, that answers my question about your update. ;) Glad you enjoyed them!

Regina, I loved the audio for How to Flirt. Such a fun listen.

Finished a couple shorties A Dragon's Seduction by Tamelia Tumlin & NightDrake by Lara Adrian . Both of which would have been a lot better if they'd been made into a novel vs. novella. 2.5-3★ each.

I'll read Collected (Coveted, #0.5) by Shawntelle Madison next to see how I like Shawntelle's Coveted series. Has anyone read those books yet? I have book #1 and 0.5 is a freebie.

Me too. I'm not a love triangle fan. Why are they used so often, especially in YA?

You're going to love Ashes of Honor (October Daye, #6) by Seanan McGuire . :)

Yep, fantastic, deeply scary, I was sorta expecting it and no I'm not telling ya anything else. ROFL.

As to Shantelle's series, I've just got #1 Coveted (Coveted, #1) by Shawntelle Madison and didn't realise there was a prequel. Off to investigate :D

ETA: LOL. Investigation shows I picked up the Kindle freebie, forgot & haven't read it yet :D

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments Jean wrote: "Me too. I'm not a love triangle fan. Why are they used so often, especially in YA? "

YA is FULL of the triangles. I knew of few girls/boys in my school that two or more beaus. Dunno the reason(s). But, definitely know I'm not a fan of them in books.

LOL Sandra! Well, I'll have to start the series and find out for myself then, I guess. :)

LOL! I'll let ya know how they are.

I've read the whole series and it is pretty good. I think I gave both books 4 stars but I liked the first one the best. Just an FYI, they have a bit of a love triangle but it seems to be resolved at the end of the second book.

message 166: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments I love your review for the first one christal. I downloaded the prequel. Can't want to start.

So I started last night and finished this morning at predawn Making Him Sweat (Harlequin Blaze #740) by Meg Maguire and I loved it. it was so good. Great characters. Great build.

message 167: by Literary Ames (new)

Literary Ames (amyorames) | 1854 comments Steph, we must've read NightDrake by Lara Adrian at the same time! Insta-love central, that one.

Also read To Love a Witch by Debora Geary Dancing with the Duke (Landing a Lord, #0.5) by Suzanna Medeiros Lavender Vows (The Medieval Herb Garden, #1) by Colleen Gleason . The last one was the was pretty strong for a shorty.

Currently reading Refining Felicity by Marion Chesney

message 168: by Ezi (new)

Ezi Chinny (ezinwanyi) | 2516 comments reading Mark of the Demon (Kara Gillian, #1) by Diana Rowland

Valerie ~ Val Hall ~ | 9662 comments Amy or "Ames" wrote: "Steph, we must've read NightDrake by Lara Adrian at the same time! Insta-love central, that one."

I agree, there was much potential in this story...why not a full book?

message 170: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments I just finished the audio of How to Flirt with a Naked Werewolf (Naked Werewolf, #1) by Molly Harper -- the audio was so much fun! Now I am sorry that I cancelled my audible membership as audible seems to be the only place to get the audio version of #2.

Jean ~ Kindle Queen (jkat9) | 370 comments Steph wrote: "YA is FULL of the triangles. I knew of few girls/boys in my school that two or more beaus. Dunno the reason(s). But, definitely know I'm not a fan of them in books."

I think that's why I don't like love triangles. They are so unrealistic. Seriously, how often does that happen in real life? And yes, I know most of the books I read have magic, vampires, fae, and werewolves in them, but I need at least some realism in there. :)

message 172: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments LOL, I agree.

message 173: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments I'm not a fan of the triangle either.

Finished Touch of the Demon (Kara Gillian, #5) by Diana Rowland and I'd give it more than 5 stars if I could. Gonna be extremely hard to review without spoilers. The whole book is a spoiler!!!!

Valerie ~ Val Hall ~ | 9662 comments Are you mad Sandra? I had to have a cool down period after Touch of the demon.

message 175: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments I'm still in cool down Val, don't worry.

Luckily or not, I've got house stuff to do :)

message 176: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments That is another series I keep meaning to start! It sounds like this latest was a good one. :)

message 177: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments Turned everything before it on its head - in a good way not a ridiculous author trying to salvage the book way. ROFL.

message 178: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments Hahaha, I really hate when authors do that and I have one in mind.

message 179: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments I hate that I have to now wait for the next book ..... already finger tapping .....

message 180: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments Thanks, Christal. I'm just starting book 1 and enjoying it so far. So going though, only b/c of RL stuffs.

NightDrake would have been SO much better, IMO, if she'd worked it into a series starter. Standing alone and as short as it is ... fail for me.

LOL I know exactly what you mean, Jean! I have NO problem with immortal-what-evers, but throw in a 15-16 year old who has 2+ drop-dead, gorgeous (always) guys after her and I can't stand it.

message 181: by Josie (new)

Josie | 1967 comments Regina wrote: "Hahaha, I really hate when authors do that and I have one in mind."

Who are you thinking of, Regina?

I've read the first of Kara Gillian and have the second but none of the rest are on kindle yet :(

I'm reading Sempre by J.M. Darhower - one of those addictive books!

message 182: by Tiffani (new)

Tiffani Day | 35 comments Just finished Wrath, New Species 6. It wasn't my favorite from the series but it was a good read, moving onto Tiger book 7.

message 183: by Steph, Serious series addict (last edited Jan 24, 2013 05:00PM) (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments Finished Collected (Coveted, #0.5) by Shawntelle Madison and enjoyed it, just not enough to jump immediately into book #1. I do plan to read it soon though. Natalya's got one wicked OCDemon.

Also read Waking Up by Arianna Hart , which was heavy on the sex (you'll never hear me complain about that) and speedy ILUs, but decent. Too bad it's not a series short.

Kinda in a rut on what to read. Glad FL is starting up soon. Hoping it'll resuscitate my reading mojo.

message 184: by Tiffani (new)

Tiffani Day | 35 comments Tiger, book 7 was really good I'm onto book 8 almost caught up in the series then ill have my usual withdrawals awaiting the next book in the series and a hard time picking something new I'm torn between Warm Bodies and the Casters series

message 185: by Tiffani (new)

Tiffani Day | 35 comments Oh yea I was also wonder about the Odd Thomas series anyone read it ?

message 186: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments My husband read the Odd Thomas books, Tiffani. He said the first several were good, but the final one was off, whatever that means. LOL! I haven't read them.

message 187: by Jackie M (new)

Jackie M | 695 comments I just started Once Bitten (Alexa O’Brien, Huntress, #1) by Trina M. Lee

message 188: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments I finished listening to Rapture (The Fallen Angels, #4) by J.R. Ward (3★) and started one of Drake's Asylum prequels The Asylum Interviews Bronx (The Asylum Tales, #0.5) by Jocelynn Drake .

Looking forward to your thoughts on that one, Jackie. I recently read it myself.

Valerie ~ Val Hall ~ | 9662 comments Steph, I found that the prequels to Drake's Asylum series was not as polished as book 1. In other words, the prequels are nice because they set the supporting characters up but they have an unfinished quality to them.

Valerie ~ Val Hall ~ | 9662 comments Done with Steel's Edge (The Edge, #4) by Ilona Andrews . It may not be Kate Daniels brand of awesome but it sure was the best book of the Edge series.

message 191: by Sandra J (new)

Thanks, that's good to know. I enjoyed it fine. I'm definitely going to read the other prequel and book 1. I really liked Drake's Dark Days series, so I'm excited to read about this new world she's created w/this series. I like that there are all sorts of supernaturals in it. :D

I'm reading Soul Trade (Black London, #5) by Caitlin Kittredge .

message 198: by Angie (new)

Angie (pinkindle) Days of Blood & Starlight (Daughter of Smoke and Bone, #2) by Laini Taylor which I'll finish in the morning.

Sandra | 25908 comments Reading Vampires Are Forever (Argeneau, #8) by Lynsay Sands for Fantasyland. Very funny, even got a chuckle from hubby!

message 200: by Ellese (new)

Ellese (faithfulumbrella) | 60 comments Well, I have a lot to read right now apparently. I am currently reading Bitten (Women of the Otherworld, #1) by Kelley Armstrong as well as Some Girls Bite (Chicagoland Vampires, #1) by Chloe Neill and I am going to try and re-read Beautiful Creatures (Caster Chronicles, # 1) by Kami Garcia in anticipation for the movie (I only got thru about 100 pages the last time I attempted to read it)...

There are just wayyyyy too many books for me to read right now and I have a whole pile of ARC's and books I have purchased that I can't even get to! How do ya'll keep up!? lol
