Laura (apenandzen) | 3 comments I'm wondering if anyone else has done or is doing this.

I'm really bad at history and trying to understand it better. I'm thinking about reading about one event, say WWII or WWI, from many different countries. Or if you were interested in an era, say the 1920s, you could gain a broader understanding by reading that era around the world.

Does anyone know of a resource to find books set in different nations that took place in certain timeframes or during certain events?

But these might be helpful for your search

Historical Novels might be a place to start- lots of info there

If you like mysteries Stop! You're Killing Me has indexes by location, historical, diversity, and others The 1920's index includes books set in East Africa, England, France, India, etc
If you like cozies, Cozy-Mysteries has themes too

Whichbook has a character/plot/setting search option that might be helpful. The site used to have a limited selection of books but it is expanding

If your public library provides access to Ebsco's NoveList you can search by genre, location, and subject.
