E.C. Richard | 2 comments I'm almost done with "Sharp Objects" by Gillian Flynn. Not sure how I feel about it quite yet.

message 502: by Rhiannon (new)

Rhiannon (tea-and-toast) | 8 comments I just finished reading The Great Gatsby, it was fantastic! I'm seriously looking forward to watching the film interpretation. Now I'm planning to read The Book Thief by Marcus Zusak because so many people have recommended it to me I thought it was about time I read it. :)

message 503: by Angel (new)

Angel Lepire | 14 comments I felt very out of the "reading" loop for so long, now that I'm back in it, I guess I'm ALL in. I'm reading 4 books right now, and listening to one on Audible when I'm driving. I'm way behind in all my TV shows, and don't even ask me the last movie I saw. But that's alright. ;-)

OK, to answer the question of the thread, this is what I'm reading:

Loosely Translated by Simon Hugh Wheeler Fun & funny book...I'm really loving this one. It has some very real and interesting characters.

Descended (Fallen Guardian Saga, #1) by Debra Ann Miller I'm sort of on a break form this one until I finish Loosely Translated, but I can't wait to get back to it!

On a Foreign Field A Story of Loyalty and Brotherhood by Hazel B. West This book was for a read-in on another GR board, and I admit, I wasn't very excited to read it. But seriously, it is SOOOO well written I know I will finish it. Not my usual genre to read, but this writer is seriously talented!

Some Are Sicker Than Others by Andrew Seaward I was very excited to find another book in the general genre of my own book, and that he is from CO (where I live) was even better. I've only gotten through a couple chapters, but I'm very struck and impressed by the realism of this story.

Under the Dome by Stephen King What can I say...I'm a die-hard Stephen King fan. I can't believe how many of his books I haven't read, so I'm catching up. This one is on Audible, so I'm listening to it whenever I can't read.

So far I'm liking all of them. I was having a hard time decided which one to read first, but I've had to just pick one and keep going with it or I feel like I'm getting nowhere. So many great books out there that most people will never get a chance to see. I love that self-published and other indie authors are so eager to help each other out on this site. And there are many "popular" books that are incredible too, so it's hard to narrow it down. Sounds like many who have commented on this thread are reading some great books!

I really enjoyed this one, too, Melissa. I dove right into The Twelve after finishing it.

message 520: by Ayu (new)

Ayu (ianosheas) | 22 comments City of Glass is a great ending to what should've been the end of the Mortal Instruments. No need to drag it out, Cassie Clare! In my opinion, The Infernal Devices were much better than The Mortal Instruments, but of course, that all depends on your own opinion.

I've just recently finished Shades of Earth, the final installment from the Across the Universe Series by Beth Revis, and I HIGHLY recommend it to anyone who loves dystopian, sci-fi, and/or mystery novels.

I'm currently reading The Scorch Trials by James Dashner and I'm already hooked.

message 521: by Tone (new)

Tone (tonjel) | 18 comments I'm currently reading Delirium by Lauren Oliver! I love dystopian books so I have wantede to read it a very long time now.

Awesome book!!!!

message 526: by Meg-Anne (new)

Meg-Anne | 23 comments Pilar - The Circle series are pretty good. They are strange and the beginning of the 1st book had me asking myself "WTH am I getting myself into?" But I ended up devouring all of them...so they were good IMO.

message 533: by Charles (new)

Charles (cbloky) | 11 comments just started reading the clearing by Thomas Rydder one of my free goodreads

message 534: by Petra (new)

Petra I'm currently reading Infinite Jest (about 2/3 through). It's such a huge & heavy book that I only read it at home.
During my lunch breaks at work, I'm reading The Gift of Rain.
I'm enjoying both of these books. One is a roller coaster of a ride, while the other is rather meditative and peaceful. Good combo.
I'm also listening to an audio version of Bonk: The Curious Coupling of Science and Sex while on the treadmill. It's surprisingly fitting and entertaining.

thanks for your opinion, i think i will give it a second chance. I read the preface and the first chapter and I thought it was complete nonsense. His comments about viruses and bioweapons made no sense at all... but I'll try again :P

message 539: by Zahrah (new)

Zahrah (zahrahwhy) | 20 comments Clo wrote: "Currently reading a trashy book Hunted (House of Night, #5) by P.C. Cast and a glorified slutty character..."
hahahahaha this series is ridiculous! She spends the first 2 and a half books being a complete slutshamer, and then she bangs the hell out of that poet, and turns into super-slut. Not that that's bad (hell, i would if i was her and surrounded by hot guys) but way to be a hypocrite.

message 540: by Fiona (Titch) (new)

Fiona (Titch) Hunt (titch) Finished Name and Number - John Hoskison. Now I'm gonna carry on reading Bad Blood: A Vampire Thriller - J.R. Rain.

message 541: by Heiyi (new)

Heiyi | 1 comments Currently reading Fated by Sarah Alderson. Just riveting.

message 542: by Haley (new)

Haley I just finished the Switched trilogy, and while they were enjoyable enough, they weren't great. And the third one was my least favorite, which was disappointing.

I also just read Barely Breathing (Breathing, #2) by Rebecca Donovan which is the second in Rebecca Donovan's breathing series. They are incredible. AMAZING, five-star books that I cannot believe more people haven't read. They can be painful, but I think they're highly realistic and she's a wonderful author. You care about all the characters and about every single thing that happens. I recommend them to everyone. The third one is coming out in July.

And I just started Interview With the Vampire (Vampire Chronicles, #1) by Anne Rice

message 543: by Heather (new)

Heather (heather08) Right now, I am reading
Shades of Earth Its such a good dystopian/romance/ya/futuristic page turner

Laylah Liwaru (finiarela) | 19 comments Michelle wrote: "I have recently finished two different books The Best of Me by Nicholas Sparks, which was excellent, and The Mortal Instruments City of Bones, which I really enjoyed and it had some surprises I did..."

City of Bones is really awesome, and is the rest of the series. I suggest you move on from Beautiful Creatures. I liked the first book a lot, and if you get into that one, I think you'll like it, but it basically goes downhill from there throughout the series.

message 550: by Laylah (new)

Laylah Liwaru (finiarela) | 19 comments I am currently reading Avalon High and The Angel Experiment. They seem pretty good so far. I just finished re-reading Divergent, which is like one of my favorite books, I can't wait for the third book to come out!
