Andrea (dreakay) | 192 comments Just started Under the Never Sky by Veronica Rossi (after I saw Divergent author Veronica Roth post about it on here). Hooked on it early on & can't wait to keep reading. Hard to put down.

I really enjoyed it! I mostly got it because I liked the cover, LOL. Haven't read book 2 yet, but it's on my TBR list. Hope to start it soon!

As for what I'm currently (re)reading--one of my favorite Nora Roberts stories, Blue Smoke. It's a bit older, but I haven't read it in a while.

Nora is one of those authors people either love or hate--but I love her, obviously. It kind of starts really slow, but the love story aspect is actually one of my favorites. (Kind of a love-at-first-sight deal on the guy's end, but they don't actually meet for 13 years after he first saw her. It's just sweet.)

Christine Hatfield (christinesbookshelves) | 1597 comments What's that book about?

message 957: by Catherine (new)

Catherine (slytherdor1987) | 11 comments I'm a paranormal/sci-fi person. I was going through the bookstore because I was looking for something to read after reading Divergent and Insurgent in a few days' time and picked up Seanan McGuire's Rosemary and Rue (http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/62...). So far it's pretty good. I liked the way she opened the series up. Can't wait for the trip home so I can read some more of it.

I've got a couple books on hold at my local library.
--Written in Red by Anne Bishop http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/15...
--Frost Burned by Patricia Briggs http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/13...
--Fault in Our Stars by John Green http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/11...

I tried reading Mirror Maze by Michaele Jordan (http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/11...) but didn't get very far into it. It's not that it's a bad book. I expected something else. I'll end up going back to it after the aforementioned books are finished. It's like that with A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness (http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/86...). It feels like either I'm not ready to finish the book or it's just not interesting to me right now.

I wish I could finish Life of Pi before I have to return it but someone else is waiting to read it. That's an interesting story even though I'm not quite a quarter of the way through it.

message 958: by Lindsey (new)

Lindsey Tate Too bad you can't finish Life of Pi. It's so good. I just saw the movie last night which misses some of the humor of the novel, but is still good - and so beautifully shot.

Andrew | 7 comments I'm currently reading "Parade's End" by Ford Madox Ford. It is a bit of a slow go at the beginning, but it really picks up nicely after awhile. It is a significant undertaking at over 900 pages, but it seems to be well worth it. I'm also reading "Psychotic Reactions and Carburetor Dung" by Lester Bangs. He was a writer for Cream magazine in the 70's and is one of the most brilliant music writers of all time. He was portrayed by Phillip Seymour Hoffman in "Almost Famous".

message 967: by Bread (new)

Bread (etchmaymay) | 30 comments If you like romantic paranormal books then I suggest Kelly Armstrong's Darkest Powers series. The first book is The Summoning! One of the best series I've read, couldn't put it down!

message 976: by Bree (new)

Bree (breeenicole) I just finished Thirteen Reasons Why and I'm now reading the Host. I can already see the similarities to the movie from the preview. I'm really excited for it!

message 977: by Lianne (new)

Lianne (liannevanroekel) I just finished Blindness and I think it's a great read. If you want to read a book by a Nobel Prize winner and can't decide which one to pick up, I would definitely recommend this one. It's easier to get into than I thought it would be.

I'm still reading The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle and A Storm of Swords. Think I should get back to A Storm of Swords before I start reading a new one.

Veronica (veraj121) I am in a scandalous mood. So I am reading Poor Little Bitch Girl Poor Little Bitch Girl (Lucky Santangelo, #7) by Jackie Collins . Oww

message 982: by [deleted user] (new)

Hi. New to group! Nice to meet you guys. I'm actually reading a couple of books at once. Both I highly recommend. One's been sitting on my bookshelf for five years and I've only just picked it up - it's The Sea by John Banville - a really sad and nostalgic novel. Beautifully written if you don't mind a slower paced book. And just downloaded (free) Survival Year by Jennifer Shearer French for Kindle. A third of the way in, and it's really good. If you're into speculative political stuff, check it out.

Brittany Perry | 229 comments Sadly few men like that exist but then he was kind of grouchy. I liked Jane's man a lot better. He was so sweet; his only flaw was not sticking to his own mind.

I am currently reading Island of the Blue Dolphins and The Borrowers

message 986: by Cassandra (new)

Cassandra (cassandra_ray) right now I am reading Everyday by David Levithan ... so far I'm not a fan. The idea of the book is really interesting, but I'm having a hard time really getting into it. Maybe it will pick up and capture my attention.

Ziva (ZzZiva Reads) Hi, everyone! I am currently reading The perks of being a wallflower - finally got it. YAY.
As for the recommendations I would recommend Significance by Shelly Crane. It is brilliant, if you're into the whole one guy/girl and soul mate thing.

Just finished the 3rd "Jack Nightingale" book by Stephen Leather - again a supernatural twist and wildly entertaining therefore highly recommended. ***Jack Nightingale books need to be read in order***

message 995: by Cassandra (new)

Cassandra (cassandra_ray) I just finished Everyday and was not impressed. The idea of the book was really interesting but the book was not. Now I'm reading What's Left of Me and so far it's pretty interesting.

Kristie | 5928 comments I just finished The Long Earth which I didn't really care for. I felt it was a bit boring. I also just finished The History of Us: A Novel, which was ok.

I just started Divergent and Eleventh Elementum, which both started out well.

I'm planning to start Looking for Alaska and The Casual Vacancy next week.

I'm really hoping one of the next few books I read will be great, since I've read a lot of just ok books recently.
