Jen (evechic) I just finished reading The Great Gatsby as well as watched the movie recently. I was amazed at how close the movie followed the book. If you haven't read it already I suggest it. fantastic book.

Ash (morethanfairytales) | 115 comments I just picked up Life, Animated yesterday and haven't been able to put it down. It's the bittersweet story of a journalist and his wife who find out that their youngest son has a rare form of autism. He learns to communicate with them by memorizing large portions of Disney movies and expressing his thoughts, feelings, and needs through other characters and scenes. Beautifully written and told.

Kristie | 5928 comments I just finished Breed of Innocence Breed of Innocence by Lanie Jordan and The Lost Hero The Lost Hero (Heroes of Olympus, #1) by Rick Riordan . Both were good books for YA and middle school, but I didn't love either one.

message 2656: by Jordan (new)

Jordan Michaels (jemsbooks) Ghost Town (The Morganville Vampires, #9) by Rachel Caine
I just started this. I generally hate reading a series out of order but you have to read what you get when it comes in from the library. No fun trying to wait. Can take forever. I just adore vampire books. I just finished reading: Ouran High School Host Club, Vol. 01 by Bisco Hatori , Ouran High School Host Club, Vol. 02 by Bisco Hatori , and After School Nightmare, Volume 1 by Setona Mizushiro . If you can't tell, I adore Manga. Kind of been a plus that I have been ill, kind of not. I've been able to read more. ha ha

Kristie | 5928 comments Katie.g - I thought the same thing with Graceling. I read it because someone recommended it to me. Somehow, I thought it would just be ok, but I really liked it a lot. Much better than I expected.

message 2661: by Katie.g (new)

Katie.g | 129 comments @Kristie. I thought it would just be ok / mediocre too but I've seen quite a few people on this site say how good it was so I finally gave in. I'm glad I did.

Karen I'm reading The Golem and the Jinni and The Fountains of Paradise. They have both grabbed me from page 1 - this is whyI should read one book at a time, because at any given time I can hardly pick which to read!

Equine Dragon | 83 comments I'm now reading the third hill north of town. I won it in a giveaway on goodreads. And I'm really enjoying it.
It's so different from anything I've read. I thought it was going to be something different, but I am very pleased with the direction of the story.

Katie | 31 comments I am reading and loving 2076:A Revolutionary Tale by Stephen Mitchell. It's a departure from my usual choices but has me wanting more. It is science fiction - dystopian literature - story of a very different (fortunately) America from the one in which we live. 2076 A Revolutionary Tale by Stephen G. Mitchell

Jim Vuksic The Inverted World, a novel by Christopher Priest, was first published in 1974.

Imagine a city that is constantly being physically moved forward, not by magic or advanced technology, but by being physically pulled by an elite corps of its inhabitants.

I haven't read that one, but you could put in a request for someone to buddy read it with you if you'd like to discuss it with someone.

Buddy read requests thread is here: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

message 2682: by Lizzy (new)

Lizzy (lizzymarie0304) I'm currently reading Enders Game! I recommend it to anyone who loves sci-fi. I'm also reading Pride and Prejudice (yes, for fun, not for a school assignment). It's actually really good, if you can get past all the fancy language. Totally recommend it.

message 2683: by Gotobedmouse (new)

Gotobedmouse Currently reading "where the winds lead" which is actually a memoir a friend from high school wrote. It is pretty accurate however it hurt a little bit when he stated he really didn't have friends in high school. We sat together and ate lunch everyday together...I considered him a very close friend. But it is a story of a boat person from Vietnam coming to America with only the clothes on his back and ending up making it to Harvard and becoming a doctor. I strongly recommend the book.

message 2696: by Jen (new)

Jen (evechic) I'm currently reading Under Magnolia: A Southern Memoir. I'm surprised that I am enjoying it since I didn't like Under the Tuscan Sun. Oh yeah and it's an actual book. It's hard to get used to again.

message 2697: by Kristie, Moderator (Retired) (new)

Kristie | 5928 comments I just finished Runner Runner by Patrick Lee by Patrick Lee. I loved it. I think it was just what I needed. It was a thriller with a bit of a mystery aspect to it. The writing was very good, as was the narration. I couldn't wait to get back to it when I wasn't listening. If you're looking for an interesting thriller that is not gory, I would recommend this.

Love this series. The movie wasn't too bad either. Still getting use to Jace being played by Jamie Campbell Bower, but he fit the character better than I had thought he would.
