I still haven't gotten to that series! I think I really am going to the last person to read it!

I just added this to my TBR recently because a Goodreads friend recommended it. I've only heard good things so far!

Elizabeth (aconight) | 25 comments It's such a hyped series I wasn't sure of it. I'm really enjoying it tho. Can't wait to read the rest of the series.

message 2704: by Kristie, Moderator (Retired) (new)

Kristie | 5928 comments Yes, I worry about hyped series too. They are usually a let down. I saw the movie and enjoyed it though, so I'm hoping to like the series and read ahead of any future movies.

Elizabeth (aconight) | 25 comments Iwatched the movie first, which inspired me to read the book. Now I enjoy the book 100 times better. You will really enjoy it.

Avid Reader and Geek Girl (avidreaderandgeekgirl) | 1572 comments I just finished Origins (The Vampire Diaries Stefan's Diaries, #1) by L.J. Smith it's good if you watch the tv show or have read the other books/series. Now I'm reading Let the Right One In by John Ajvide Lindqvist and finishing Insurgent (Divergent, #2) by Veronica Roth .

I started The Last Templar years ago and then got sidetracked and never finished. It started out pretty interesting though. Thanks for the reminder to get back to it and finish it up.

I've read the first two in the series. They aren't bad but I don't think they are rave worthy. I haven't watched the movie though.

message 2714: by Justin (new)

Justin Davis (justindavis098) Currently reading the Infernal Devices Series by Cassandra Clare. I am enjoying it so far.

I previously read in April all the Mortal Instruments and enjoyed them but I wouldn't call them rave worthy.

message 2715: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (aconight) | 25 comments I finished it last night. It was definitely good. Thought about continuing the series but I have three John Green books staring at me on my shelf.

message 2716: by Justin (new)

Justin Davis (justindavis098) They only get better as you go a long I think. If you liked book one Elizabeth I would encourage you to keep going!

Bridget's Quiet Corner (chaptersandscreens) Empower (The Embrace Series, #5) by Jessica Shirvington by Jessica Shirvington (ARC)

I was fortunate enough to come across someone on Pintrest when I was looking for this cover to put on a pin board and she had extra copies of the ARC's. Come to find out, it had been her last copy, so I had reached out in perfect timing! I am really enjoying this one like I did all the others in this series (well, there was one book exception that was difficult to get through but I trudged through it and glad I did!). This is the 5th and final book in the Ebrace Series.

Avid Reader and Geek Girl (avidreaderandgeekgirl) | 1572 comments I'm currently reading Second Sight (Arcane Society, #1) by Amanda Quick and Let the Right One In by John Ajvide Lindqvist . I just finished Insurgent (Divergent, #2) by Veronica Roth and I've heard a lot of people complain about how Tris acted in this book, but if you get the kindle edition it explains character death and why Tris acts the way she does in this book.

message 2724: by Stephany (new)

Stephany Acosta | 29 comments I'm currently reading "One Hundred Years Of Solitude" by Gabriel Garcia Marquez. I had to read this when I was in high school and I found it pretty boring and I think I wasn't mature to read this kind of books because it was hard to understand for a 14 year old teenager. After his death I promised as a good Colombian to read his work and wow I have to say that this book is amazing, very entertaining, and I see a bit of Latin American history in this book. I have laughed a lot reading this. Really recommend this book, is magic realism. If you read it, try to do it everyday so you won't get lost with the characters because they're so many.

message 2727: by Desertorum (new)

Desertorum Stephany: thanks for giving me hope! I tried to read the book when I was a teenager and couldn´t get through with it. I think know is time to give it another try :)

message 2728: by Kristin (new)

Kristin I am currently reading Everything Is Illuminated. Usually I read the book first but when I saw this movie I was unaware of the book. I absolutely LOVED the movie and so far the book seems fairly comparable even though I am not very far into it. Alex's premium skills have me laughing.

message 2729: by Stephany (new)

Stephany Acosta | 29 comments @Desertorum: well this is a classic, when I tried the first time it was hard, but now it really easy to understand. I also have to point out that I'm reading in Spanish because it's my mother tongue. I have heard that the book in English is really hard to read. I really don't know about this 'cause I haven't tried to pick a copy in English.
You will love the book. I have read more than half of the book and I really love it.
Gabo was such a wonderful person and writer.

Reviewed by Raymond Mathiesen
4.5 out of 5 stars

Big trouble and light hearted investigations…

A beautiful stage show star, come whore house madam, is suddenly foully murdered, despite her apparent gangster protection. A disgruntled Japanese business tycoon hires a hit man to assassinate Australia’s Prime Minister. An unbeatable game show contestant takes a recreational bungee-jump, only to have her rope break in what her friend thinks is dubious circumstances. Enter the low-life world of Paddy Pest, sometimes Private Investigator and sometimes secret agent for Australia’s spy bureau ASIO. Pest is based in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, though is very frequently an international traveler. He is a master of dubious disguises, and often manages to solve the case despite his shortcomings. Here is a world where virtually everybody has a rancorous underbelly, and where murder is a common life event, but where good will eventually win out (even if by fluke). These humorous short stories will beguile you, entertain you and make you chuckle. Gerry Burke’s Pest On The Run: More Humorous Short Stories From The Paddy Pest Chronicles (iUniverse, c2012) is ideal for the lover of crime and murder mystery tales, but will also suit busy people looking for a witty amusement to fill a free hour or two.

Mitsy (mitsyc) | 41 comments Hi! Today I learned that half the proceeds from The Light Who Shines goes to a cancer society. The book is dystopia/fantasy. If that's not your type book, I hope you'll consider trying something new for a good cause. :) I think it's a great way for indie authors to sell a novel. :) I already bought it and plan to read it very soon. Hope someone buys it. :)

Then there is my eldest son who wanted to move to Scotland and now isn't and my fridge/freezer blowing up and having to fork out £100 (GBP) for a new fridge lol.

On a good note, I am reading Exquisite Betrayal - A.M. Hargrove which I am enjoying.
