Just read "The Shadow of a Sin" by Bertha M. Clay (Charlotte M. Braeme). Very difficult to put down!

I finished +Anima as my reading project last weekend. Now I really need to settle on a new book or series to dig into! I'm slowing up my reading pace slightly so I can work some writing back into my schedule, but I still want to keep at a steady pace.

At the moment, I just started The Nicolet Corrigenda. My aunt gave this to my mom for Christmas a few years ago, and it's sat on our shelf ever since, but now that I've started it it's fascinating. It's a scholarly monograph (duograph?) to debunk (what is, if they can be believed) the State-of-Wisconsin equivalent of Washington and the cherry tree. And at the end of the first chapter, we see why this book came to us---my aunt, who gave it to us, is thanked by name (and title---she's on the staff of the Milwaukee Public Museum Research Library) in the acknowledgments there.

I haven't been reading too much lately, owing to some housecleaning, but today I finished The Man in Lower Ten by Mary Roberts Rinehart, a really fun old-fashioned mystery. Not sure what I'm going to read next.

Another addition(s) to the list of mysteries, too: Emma Lathen. I've only read Green Grow the Dollars, but my dad's told some of the best bits of Murder Without Icing (set against a hockey backdrop) and Murder Make the Wheels Go 'Round (involving "Michigan Motors" and partly set in Ann Arbor at the U. of M.) And there are a lot more.

Having been to Ann Arbor, that last one may interest me... Thank you!

I read Anna Katharine Green's "The House in the Mist" this morning. It's a short mystery that I liked a great deal.

I beta-read the next installment in Katie's Supervillian of the Day series... They're such fun little reads! I wan't wait for the rest of them.

I haven't been able to read much this week... but I did start The Rare Jewel of Christian Contentment by Jeremiah Burroughs. I haven't got very far yet, but I think it's going to be really good.

Finally finished another book; the first one I've finished in almost three weeks. :P A little collection of facts and stories about cats...

I read two books last night--"What's-His-Name" by George Barr McCutcheon, which had such a frustrating ending that I wanted something short and happy before going to bed, so I read the short, delightful "Probable Sons" by Amy le Feuvre.

Finally finished Plot Versus Character: A Balanced Approach to Writing Great Fiction. Yay! Here's a link to my review.

I just started reading 'Inspired by the Bible Experience Companion Bible-TNIV' I love this translation so far.

Finally finished In Another Girl's Shoes by Berta Ruck. Also working on Twelve Unlikely Heroes by John MacArthur.

Elisabeth seems to read everything I'm going to... the past few books I read, I've gone to add them only to find: "Elisabeth ranks this book___" ;)

Haven't been reading much this week but just ordered some online...and they should come Friday and Monday. I can hardly wait!

I read eight chapters of "The Lilac Sunbonnet" last night and this morning. It's a wonderful story, but sometimes the Scots dialect of some of the characters takes extra time to read.
So far it will probably be a new favorite!

I'm eager to hear what you think of Divergent when you're done, Jemimah--I read that this year also.

I've added a number to author pages already, without ISBN. Just make sure there aren't multiple author pages for one person before doing so! :)

I seem to be stuck firmly in the land of hard science. Very hard science. I've been going from one science book to another. My current reading list includes "Forbidden Science," "The Mind of God," "The Language God Talks" and "The End of Time." I do tend to read something fluffy in between though, to clear my brain. Lots of Ellery Queen and Perry Mason. I think I have some library thrillers that need read too, though... Mostly I want ot say hi everyone, and I want to be more involved in this discussion!

That makes two votes for wanting Katie to be more involved!

Oh, Perry Mason stuff is great! I would love to get some of the books to read, because I already love watching the old show.

I haven't had much time to read lately, even though I have some new books that I can't wait to devour.

I had to return some books to the library unread. I feel like a failure!

But, I now have my stack of checked-out books more organized so I can better budget my reading...

I've got a big pile of books waiting for me at the library...now if I can only get there. There's sickness in the house and I'm doing three people's chores. :)

Just finished reading the comic book arc "The Death of Superman" and it is fantastic, in a sad way.

All right, time for me to get back on track and figure out what balancing reading with writing looks like.

The discussion topic for yesterday's meeting of our local chapter of the Mythopoeic Society was Descent Into Hell; as it's one of the works on my list of books everyone ought to read (though in my review explaining that choice, I hasten to add, I began with the caveat that it's not necessarily a good choice for one's first Williams, and Williams is not an author I'd recommend to a new or particularly young Christian) I had of course read it before (and in fact several times), but I didn't actually finish it this time through until this evening.

City of a Thousand Dolls. And I want a review of all of those books when you are done. Please? They all sound very intriguing.

I will review all of those at least briefly on Goodreads when I finish them, promise. :D

What are you reading now, Jonathan, or are you going to finish up Descent Into Hell?

@Aubrey: I did finish it, but only this evening, well after the discussion meeting. :) As much as I read anything (that counts---fanfic and such doesn't :)) of late, I hope to get back to working my way through the books in my room that I'm not sure I'll keep because I haven't read them. Or I might read The Gammage Cup, which is an old favorite (and also on my list of books everyone ought to read).
