I still have to read twenty books to make my goal!

I have twenty books to read to make my goal too. Not sure I'll make it given how badly I've been reading to get this far behind in the first place... :P

I passed my goal of 50 (really should have made it higher since I always read more than 50 in a year) so I upped it to 80.

Four books to go!

I'm currently reading Patti Smiths novel titled Just Kids, almost finished though! I was wondering if anyone wanted to do a quick reading sprint with me?

If I could count how many times I've read and reread my own books, I would be doing great. However, since I can't... I'll probably fail my goal. Or just read a bunch of little kids books. :P

I somehow fell out of the habit of keeping up with this thread. It's been a little too long to play catch-up, but anyway, here's my annual post on my top ten favorite reads of the year.

I've been reading a lot of ebooks...trying to catch up on things I've wanted to read while I have the chance to read them free. Have almost caught up with where I should be for the year. I've particularly been enjoying books by Sarah M. Eden, Amanda Cabot, and Tamera Alexander this week.

I just finished Elizabeth Camden's new "Beyond All Dreams" (five stars) and Regina Jennings's "Caught in the Middle." (4.75 stars) Now I'm diving into Siri Mitchell's new "Like a Flower in Bloom", my first by her, and I'm really enjoying it so far.

I need to go in and make sure everything is properly entered into Goodreads... I've put away a ton of manga this month since I read at work. There's been some good and some mediocre and some brilliant this month... (Banana Fish being the best!)

I read most of Sarah Eden's clean, delightful Regencies and am still getting to doing individual reviews of them. At least I've made my goal! :)

I don't know if I actually read a book last week or if I just dreamed that I did. I don't think I did, but I'll have to check my phone to be sure. I don't think I'll finish any more before the end of the year...sad.

I'm not above cramming with kiddie books...they're still books, and I can call it job research! ;) At least I didn't have to this year. Getting sick last week definitely helped.

I just finished "Like a Flower in Bloom" and LOVED it! Especially the banter back and forth between the protagonist and her "rival" --I really want to read Elizabeth Camden's latest: she had me at "librarian." =)

I'm trying to finish some of the books I've got half-read so that I'm starting the year with a slightly cleaner slate. Currently reading Dawn Wind by Rosemary Sutcliff.

The Goodreads app has updated and it looks all different now... eek. What is it with all the apps I use being redesigned in the past three days?

My shiny new Kindle Fire HD has goodreads built into the book reader...it makes me so happy. :)

We got my younger brother and some of my cousins new basic kindles this year for Christmas, and they had goodreads built in too! I got to play with them - I mean, set them up - before we gave them out, and I almost didn't want to give them up ...

That's pretty cool! My Kindle is really old-school, one of the Kindle Keyboards from a few years back, and it doesn't have anything like that. It sounds clever though.

My own Kindle is the DX from last year, basically a second gen keyboard as far as programming goes, but huge. I love it, I really do, but the goodreads feature they have on all of the new kindles is really sweet.

Finished "Flower in Bloom" and gave it 4.5 stars. Great little story! Still like Camden's best, though...even though the botany was so fascinating! I felt like the Camden went a bit deeper spiritually.

Barely resisted the new Samsung Nook tablet this past weekend while it was still available for $135... Really, though, I can't afford it, because I'm saving for a bookshelf to house my colony of homeless hard copy books!

I know this challenge kinda fizzled out in 2014, but are we going to continue into 2015? And if so, should we maybe start a new "What are you reading?" thread? After two years this one is becoming a little unwieldy due to length. :)

I managed a hundred books! Yay!

I talked to Aubrey about this, and I know she has plans. I'm sure she'll be around soon to discuss them. :)

My total this year was 97! I was sure, after a long dry spell in the summer, that it would be much lower than last year, but I got to do plenty of reading this Christmas vacation. :) In addition to my top-ten list, I did an overview of the year's reading highlights on my blog

Grace - Wahey! Even when it's not very competitive here, this does keep me motivated. :)

I agree with Miriam that a fresh thread would be nice.
I sure hope we do something this year again! It's becoming a pleasant tradition. I have definitely enjoyed books this year that I've discovered from the discussions in this thread.

I agree, even if we don't keep the challenge going we should at least agree to stick around and keep challenging each other. I don't really have any other groups to keep up to date with.

I read 127 books in 2014! I set a new goal of 130, which should be achievable, except I'm moving and going to college. So...

At least there will be college books for you to count, though, right? Hmmm...better get to reading early in the year, though! ;)

I don't expect to have more time than last year myself, so I didn't go with what I wanted and challenge myself to 200. I can always revise it later...

I read 74 books this year. Not a whole lot but I'm satisfied with the number as it is more than I read the previous year.

I kept up a pretty good stream of reading and didn't ever feel like i wasn't reading enough.

A couple of years back I challenged myself to read 100 books and it was stressful to finish in time so 2014 i didn't set myself any number and still ended up reading 74 books.

I managed 112 books in Twenty-Fourteen. Not as many as last year, but it still felt like a good year and I discovered several new favourites (Yay!) among which are:

• The Scarlet Pimpernel books.
• Tales of Goldstone Wood. (excellent fantasy, friends.)
• Rooftoppers. (which, despite some swearing and crudity, is a beautiful story.)
• Endurance: Shackleton's Incredible Voyage. (a soul-stirring book.)
• Star Wars, Episode III: Revenge of the Sith
• Alicia. (be prepared to weep.)
• The Lunar Chronicles, particularly "Cress."
• The Little White Horse.

And I introduced myself to Agatha Christie's mysteries.

All in al, it's been a good year. ^_^

I read 107 books in 2014. I discovered a new author, Margaret Peterson Haddix, and read some more homeschool author books. And Jaye L. Knight's Ilyon Chronicles decided to pass up Narnia. Ilyon is awesome.

I read 38 complete books this year. Actually, 39. But only 38 made it on here. I started or read half of numerous books, partly for writing research, partly just because I got distracted... I think I read ten of those in December alone. I went on a Chautona Havig kick and read a lot. :D

I do hope to join if there's a 2015 challenge! :)

I read 124 books in 2014. I'm setting my goal for this year a little lower and hoping to read mostly non-fiction. Hopefully I can stick to it. :P

I think my number turned out to be 446... I put my goal this year at 500 because I definitely want to keep up the reading pace of comics and manga alongside the other books I've been reading.

I think I ended up around 154 or so...still have a few to add.

I read 58 books in 2014. Not a very good year for me. But, I did publish my own book, so that took up a lot of "reading time" and it was worth it! ;)

I'm debating whether to add comic books and graphic novels to my reading challenge this year and bump up my goal to 100 instead of 52. I've been keeping them separate from my reading challenge books by not adding the read date until the next year. Any thoughts?

You could do two separate shelves so you know how many of each you've read. Like "2015" and "2015 graphic" or something of the sort.

I just read L. m. Montgomery's "The Blue Castle"...loved it! Second new favorite of the year. (First new favorite was Julie Klassen's "The Silent Governess")

I'm currently reading Carolyne Larrington's translation of the Poetic Edda. I read a different translation in 2012, but this is the set one for Old Norse Lit lectures this term. I'm enjoying it a lot more than that the Prose Edda which we studied last term, and it's easier to read, too. This is definitely a clearer and more readable translation than the first one I read, which was free on Kindle.
