William (williemeikle) Does anyone else use Authorgraph? I haven't had many requests from it for signing ebooks... and I'm not sure it's a viable idea.

It's nice to see them all laid out alphabetically on one page though :-)

I used it.

I think it's more for the true fans, the ones who want a keepsake rather than something to sell on EBay.....

I agree with you, Coaxial.
Unfortunately, in my case, social anxiety disorder pretty much sinks any possibility of my meeting any of the authors I admire.

And I had problems getting mine from Authorgraph, but Evan was wonderfully patient and fixed it for me.

Bill (shiftyj1) | 4891 comments I like this idea and a lot of my favorite authors are on here, but of the several that I have received the inscription for the ebooks are all the same font, so it appears that the signature is the authors, but the actual inscription is generated by a computer and not in the authors handwritting. It kind of takes away from the experience of getting it personalized when it is computer generated. For me, I would prefer just a signed page with the cover image instead of a generic computer font inscription. I tried to contact Authorgraph a while ago, but it got kicked back.

Made sense to me, Coaxial. ;)

Michaelbrent Collings (michaelbrentcollings) | 110 comments I do get periodic requests for autographs via authorgraph, so people DO use it. It's definitely not the same (for me or them, I suspect) as a "real" signature, but for folks whose books and fan bases exist primarily as a function of electronic connections (probably 99.9% of my book sales are on Kindle - and I've sold many tens of thousands), they are about as close as is likely to get. The alternative is to have an author actually sign your ereader itself, and then a) you run out of space on your device, and b) when it breaks/becomes obsolete you have a huge brick with not that many signatures on it. So I suspect authorgraphs will become bigger in years to come.

I got several from different authors and the inscriptions were all the same writing (different messages) with different signatures :( It really is a cool idea, but I kind of soured on it after I noticed that. In the future, I would just get the signature.

They are fun to print out with the picture of the book cover and the signature though.

Michaelbrent Collings (michaelbrentcollings) | 110 comments The messages ARE from the authors -- that is, we compose them -- but we type them in through a handwriting imitator, basically. Like typing in MS Word and putting your text in a handwriting style font. I wish I could actually inscribe the message, too, but that functionality ain't there yet.

I was wondering how they did that! It will get there. It is very cool, but looking at them side by side kind of bugged me - only because I am a whacko and have nothing better to do than be nitpicky :)

Justin (justinbienvenue) | 3047 comments I happen to come across this thread so thought I'd comment. I've been on Authorgraph but I had no clue of how it worked or what the purpose of it was. I don't know that I'd do it, I mean if it doesn't seem to be used alot then maybe I'll look elsewhere.
