I'm currently trying to read all of the Perry Mason books in their publication order. I'm on number 64 out of 85. Has anyone else read them all?

Crystal Faith (crystalpots) | 1 comments Hey hey! I'm on #42! The Case of the Moth-Eaten Mink
is my favorite so far. How about you?

That one was one of the great ones (I rated it five stars), if not THE greatest one (it's also the only one I of his I put on my Favorites shelf). I'm also fond of the The Case of the Crooked Candle and The Case of the Demure Defendant.

I'm doing that right now, too. I've read most of them at one point or another in my life, but it's so much fun (going through in order) and stumbling on a "new" one! I'm currently on the Black-Eyed Blonde.

Just finished "The Case of the Ice Cold Hands." The legal trick that floored Hamilton Burger also floored me in this one.

Elle Rush (ellerush) | 2 comments Is there a master list of all the books somewhere? I love what I've found, but it's all be in anthologies or finding old dime novels piecemeal. Any links would be greatly appreciated.

message 7: by Lynneinmd (new)

Lynneinmd | 4 comments http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Perry_Ma... is a decent start point. I have almost all of the Perry Masons and a few of the others, have read them all several times, but haven't yet read them in order.

I've read several more since July, but forgot to comment on them here. The last one I read was The Case of the Queenly Contestant, so I am getting closer to reading them all (I am reading them in order of publication). I read that one originally back in 1994, and I find that I rated it the same this year as I did 20 years ago. Perry was faced with a liar for a client in this one, and the resolution of the case was quite interesting.

This is a good list, fairly complete and includes not just the Perry Masons, but ESG's other works too.

Huma | 3 comments I started reading them in order about two years ago but couldn't finish. I think I've read till 16. The issue is that I have a very few in paperbacks and I don't like reading ebooks much.

I have the last two left. I found most of mine in used bookstores, ebay, and Amazon.

My problem exactly. Ebooks do not give the same satisfaction somehow...

message 17: by Girish (new)

Girish (kaapipaste) | 3 comments I have 8 books pending in the list including 2 short story collections. Coincidentally, this month's group read is on my list of to-reads!

True. I got most of mine secondhand from old book stores. Most are in quite a depleted condition; yellowed pages, cover pages that I had to tape to prevent it from falling apart. But then reading old books with yellowed pages has a charm of its own...

I hope you find a copy and get to read that one.

message 21: by Lynneinmd (new)

Lynneinmd | 4 comments Most of mine are paperbacks, purchased used in the 80s. I have also found some newer copies at a couple of local used bookstores. If you are looking for books, remember that some were published as Detective book club books, three books per hardback.
AA Fair books are good as well, I think they have a little more if a 'hard-boiled' feel but the lead character is very clever.
If you haven't read any of The D.A. ... series, those are good as well.

Awesome! I'll try them. I did finish the last Perry Mason book this week, so I can officially say I've read them all!

Hi Vincent. How can you get your hands on them all to read? I read them on Kindle and I find there are several titles that don't seem to be available there, e.g. Lucky Legs, Careless Kitten, Black-eyed blonde and fan Dancer's horse. Regards, Neil

Years of looking for them in used bookstores was how I found them all. I started buying them back in 1990, and many were being reissued at the time, but not all of them. Used bookstores helped me to find the missing volumes.

Hi Vincent. Would you think of selling some or all of yours now that you've read them.

I'd like to keep the complete collection, but I have a few extras I could part with. I'll post a list of what books I have double copies of when I get home from work later.

Are you reading the A. A. Fair series too? I read one of the books but I didn't find it as interesting as the Mason Series.
