The Knife of Never Letting Go
question
Your Chaos Walking Playlist

I like to make playlists of songs that have lyrics reminiscent of books I have read. I have a few songs that remind me of the Chaos Walking series, has anyone else got any of those? Post the artist and the song below, and if you feel like it the reason you associate it with Chaos Walking. Ill be posting mine too, just need to gather them.

Radioactive by Imagine Dragons;
Counting Bodies like Sheep to the Rhythm of the War Drums by A Perfect Circle;
Angel with A Shotgun by The Cab

I do the same thing when certain moments remind me of a particular song. This book series has an especially southern rock vibe to it.
"Run Boy Run" by Woodkid for, you know, the running
Other running songs include "Knights of Cydonia" by Muse and "Ten Million Slaves" by Otis Taylor and "Bottom of the River" by Delta Rae
"Disarm" by Smashing Pumpkins right after the Spackle
"Who are You Really" by Mikky Ekko during the thousand Aarons
"Troubles Will be Gone" by The Tallest Man on Earth for Ben =)
"Bloodflood" by Alt-J when Viola is reading the book
"Sam's Town" by the Killers when Haven is in sight, particularly the bridge of the song
And most definitely "Apocalypse Please" by Muse for the cliffhanger

One of my first thoughts was"Wake me up" by avicii, referring to Todd at the end of, "Monsters Of Men."
But now, thinking again, tons of songs by, "Skillet," remind me of this series.
YOU HAVE TO LISTEN TO THESE SONGS, THEY WOULD BE AWESOME EVEN IF THEY DIDN'T REMIND YOU OF THE CHAOS WALKING SERIES.
- "Monster"
- "Awake and alive"
- "Hero"
- "Rise"
- "Sick of it"
- "Circus for a psycho
- "Not gonna die"
- "American Noise
- Comatose
(All these songs are by Skillet.)
You can either listen to them yourself or read below why they remind me of the series. Or both :)
First off, "Monster," is referring to Todd, obviously, in, "Monsters of men." Also referring to him at other times in the first two books, but mainly the last one.
"Awake and alive," reminds me of Todd at the end of "Monsters of men," because even though he's in a coma, he's still conscious (Awake) and alive. Also referring to many characters throughout the trilogy.
"Hero" cos that's probably how Todd and Viola felt throughout the series. And I'm pretty sure that's how most of the characters felt at some point.
"Rise," referring to, "The Answer," and Todd and Viola.
"Sick Of It," for obvious reasons.
"Circus For A Psycho," (Todd and the Mayor.)
"Not Gonna Die" for SOOOOOO obvious reasons.
"American Noise," because of the Noise they hear.
"Comatose," referring to Todd at the end of, "Monsters Of Men."

One of the songs, I like and reminds me of Chaos Walking is "Sympathy for the Devil" by the Rolling Stones.
I was just looking to see if Muse's The Resistance had any link to the trilogy. Apparently not, but it'd make a great soundtrack for film(s).
Fortress by Illenium. I can't say why, but when that song comes on I immediately think of Chaos Walking, Todd and Viola. As soon as it starts it makes me think it should play at that point in a story when they've been through so much, and they're almost there, and there's a moment of peace before it all turns to shit again.
So it reminds me of the bit when Todd and Viola are standing at the end of the waterfall looking over Haven, with the rainbows reflected from the sun and the water and they're just looking down at Haven thinking how beautiful it is and how they're ALMOST THERE! How they beat the army and they finally made it, after all they've been through and then they hear Aaron coming after them.
Nothing in the lyrics particularly references the story, it's just the beat of the song and the peacefulness of it and the calm but not so calm feeling you get when you listen to it. Todd could be a fortress, I suppose, or Prentisstown or Haven.

I definitely agree with your opinion, Emma. I also feel the song should be inputted into the book.
I feel also, I have some songs to offer my own opinion about. I feel "For You" by Said the Sky should be in the book where Viola and Todd are kissing in his tent. The song displays the point in the story where Viola and Todd really learn about their feelings for eachother, and how they both have been expressing it throughout the story. Listening to the song makes my heart ache, and feeling the love between Todd and Viola... I REALLY recommend people listen to the song... tell me what you all think, if love to hear others opinion.
