'kris Pung | 135 comments Holy cow is this guy on fire right now or what? I rented Sweet Tooth a few weeks ago and loved it, probably the most original thing I’ve read in years. Then I rented The Underwater Welder, damn that was great too. Now I’m checking out his Animal Man stuff and loving that as well. The guy can basically do no wrong in my eyes right now. Discuss.

Peter | 150 comments I agree! The final issue of Sweet Tooth just came out yesterday, and I read it last night. Great series.

It was recently announced that he will be doing a new limited series called Trillium. Sounds interesting. I'll definitely be picking it up.

I've been wanting to read Essex County. He kind of made his name with those autobiographical graphic novels.

Ed (miscatonic) He'll soon be taking over Green Arrow as well.

'kris Pung | 135 comments Peter, Trillium sound really cool I'll be keeping my eye out for it.

Ed, yes I saw that on IGN although I doubt it'll be my thing.

Caroline Milam | 2 comments Yes he is! I'm excited to know the last issue of Sweet Tooth is out, thanks to this group. I searched the other day and found nothing. I love the story and am excited to check out his newest work.

Yes #40 the last monthly just came out but it'll probably be awhile before the final issues come out on tradepaper.

Dominick (dominickgrace) | 170 comments Essex County is good stuff. An early book he did, Lost Dogs, has also just been reissued. It's short, pretty simple, fairly crude (in rendering style, not obscene), but packs a pretty good punch. Just started reading his Superboy: Smallville Attacks collection; not far enough in yet to evaluate it....

'kris Pung | 135 comments My Library rocks!! I requested they get all the Sweet Tooth volumes and I got an email yesterday telling me they ordered them.

Time to get a few more request in :)

Caroline Milam | 2 comments My library isn't that cool. We had all of them in San Antonio but I just moved to El Paso and they don't have any!!!

message 10: by Paul (new)

Paul | 286 comments My library isn't all that great either. I live in a predominantly french city so they have a very low selection of american graphic novels.
They do however have great selections when it comes to Europian and Canadian french graphic novels, so I guess it evens out.
Although it does mean that if I want to read a good american GN, I have to purchase it and that hurts my poor wallet ;-)
Still, I do appreciate a good GN and will probably be buying Sweet Tooth when it becomes available in a nice "Deluxe" edition.

Alexandria | 10 comments I have only read the first volume of Sweet Tooth but it was awesome! So Dark, funny, and tense! Not to mention I'm a total sucker for a cliffhanger ending. Can't wait to get my hands on the next volumes!

I also recently purchased Underwater Welder. Has anyone else read this, thoughts?

Yes, it was great! We did a group read here on it not long ago, so after your read it you might go read through that discussion to see some of the other members impressions.

'kris Pung | 135 comments Underwater Welder was a wonderful book and I believe it won a bunch of awards in 2012.

message 14: by Samkip (new)

Samkip The last issue of Sweet Tooth had me crying my eyes out. I cared about those characters more than I care about a lot of people I know, haha.

Underwater Welder was the first graphic novel to move me to tears. I borrowed it from the library, but I plan to buy it and add it to my growing collection of masterpieces.

Anthony | 5 comments the nobody was the 2st book i read from him- it was dope

message 17: by Amauri (new)

Amauri (prisoner248) Trillium anyone? Not a Lemire reader but I gave #1 a shot and sounds like a good set-up.

I've had my eye on this but am probably going to wait until it comes bundled in a TPB.

Albert (albertic0) | 31 comments Just finished reading Trillium --- might be Lemire's best work yet after the Essex County. Definitely his best color work yet with Villarubia.

message 20: by Meran (new)

Meran | 115 comments I've been reading Trillium every month, and yes, it's different, original.

I don't usually like superhero comics, but I like Jeff and will look one over, just because it's him.

I enjoyed Essex County amazingly!

message 21: by Corto (new)

Corto Maltese | 78 comments I have only read Sweet tooth vol 1 yet and liked it a lot, but decided to wait for the series to finish, before I get the rest. Essex county is on it's way to me and Trillum on my "must read" list. But i'm going to wait for the trade as well. Underwater welder seems to be an interesting pick, think i'm gonna check that one out as well. This could become a real Lemire-summer for me :)

message 22: by Meran (new)

Meran | 115 comments I kind of wish I had waited for the trade of Trillium. It's complicated and I'm missing one issue. Once it's done, I'm going to reread them all at once :)

message 23: by Robert (new)

Robert Wright (rhwright) | 294 comments Just picked up his new Justice League United. In one issue it's better than what has passed for the Justice League in some time.

What can I say, as much as I like the "classic" League with the marquee heroes, I like when the book puts together some B-list heroes and lets them be stars.
