Do you consider yourself an action movie expert? This thread is for members to post trivia questions about action/adventure movies.

Instructions:

1. Post a question in bold. Check regularly to see if the question was answered correctly, and if it was, confirm it with the member. You may include a link that confirms the answer (nothing X-rated or inappropriate content), such as the Internet Movie Database or other movie websites.

2. More than one member can post a trivia question at a time, so those who are answering a specific question should reference the question in their answer by copying/pasting the original question in their comment box with the answer.

3. If someone answers your question, feel free to post another one. You don't have to get a question answered correctly in order to post one.

I'll post the first question.

1. What is the maiden name of John McClane's wife Holly from the Die Hard series?

2. What is Max's last name in the Mad Max movies?

Hint: It's written on the side of his yellow interceptor.

@ Lisa. I can't remember his name, but I know it's kind of long, isn't it?

yes

Jim (jimmaclachlan) Radnikinsky? Begins with a 'R' & ends with 'sky', I think. Rats. I don't have time to watch the shows that are new much less watch an old one. Worse, if I watch one, I have to watch all three. Someone guess this soon!

I could cheat, but I won't. I'm giving someone time to answer.

Close!

message 14: by Jim (new)

Jim (jimmaclachlan) Who played Zed in "Zardoz"?

message 15: by Jim (new)

Jim (jimmaclachlan) I doubt I'll ever get any closer.
Rockinsky?
Rodaninsky?

message 16: by Jim (new)

Jim (jimmaclachlan) What was the name of the dog in "Saturn 3", a movie starring Kirk Douglass & Farah Fawcett?

LOL, that is pretty close...it was Rockatansky.

Jim (jimmaclachlan) Just proves I have a mind like a steel trap - an old, rusty one.

Who played Zed in "Zardoz"?

Sean Connery..right?

message 20: by Jim (new)

Jim (jimmaclachlan) Yes, Mike. Marg hates the movie, but likes seeing him in a loin cloth.
;-)

Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 2933 comments Mod
Yeah, I didn't like the movie much either, but remember it.

Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 2933 comments Mod
Who played Johnny Ringo in The Gunfighter ?

message 23: by Jim (new)

Jim (jimmaclachlan) The novelization by Boorman, Zardoz, fills in some gaps that the cheesy move doesn't capture well, Mike. Certainly campy grade B, but makes it more interesting.

message 24: by Jim (new)

Jim (jimmaclachlan) Can you expand on "The Gunfighter" a bit? I can't even recall the movie. Maybe the decade?

Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 2933 comments Mod
Made in 1950.

message 26: by Jim (new)

Jim (jimmaclachlan) Who played Pvt. Griff in "The Big Red One" with Lee Marvin?

Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 2933 comments Mod
Luke Skywalker....

message 28: by Eileen (new)

Eileen I'm going to have to put my thinking cap on.

These are too tough for me...maybe I'd have better luck with something more current (or maybe not) :)

message 30: by Jim (new)

Jim (jimmaclachlan) Mike (the Paladin) wrote: "Luke Skywalker...."

You got it. I was watching it the other day & was shocked to see Mark Hamill there. Had to check the credits to be sure.

message 31: by Jim (new)

Jim (jimmaclachlan) Still no bells ringing on "The Gunfighter", but it sounds familiar.

Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 2933 comments Mod
I'll give it till tomorrow and then post the answer, okay?

message 33: by Jim (new)

Jim (jimmaclachlan) I asked Marg & she knew it immediately, Mike. I haven't checked her answer, but she seems sure.
(view spoiler)

Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 2933 comments Mod
Yep, Gregory Peck. Pretty good "heavy movie" about a gun fighter who's tired of running and waiting for the "faster gun".

Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 2933 comments Mod
Okay...who played Wyatt Earp in "My Darling Clementine", circa 1946?

message 36: by Jim (new)

Jim (jimmaclachlan) I wasn't sure her answer counted since she's not a member of the group.

I don't recall, but it was a star studded cast. I'll guess Henry Fonda.

message 37: by Jim (new)

Jim (jimmaclachlan) Does anyone even remember "Saturn 3" besides me?

Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 2933 comments Mod
Yes I do...but I won't say anything till you post a question.

And yep, Henry Fonda is right.

message 39: by Jim (new)

Jim (jimmaclachlan) #16 is about "Saturn 3". What's the name of the dog?

message 40: by The Pirate Ghost, Long John Silvers Wanna-be (new)

The Pirate Ghost (Formerly known as the Curmudgeon) (pirateghost) | 5326 comments Mod
I remember the movie, not the dog.

Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 2933 comments Mod
....me neither. I'd have to cheat and look it up.

message 42: by Jim (new)

Jim (jimmaclachlan) I guess it wasn't that memorable. Hector, the robot, killed Sally as the beginning of the end. I guess her name stuck in my head because that was the name of Dick & Jane's little sister, not their dog. The idea amused me.

Yes, I am easily amused.
;-)

Naaahhh, just a trivia buff. :)

Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 2933 comments Mod
What's the Lone Ranger's nephew's horses' name?

(hint the name is found in the Lone Ranger TV series...and in a movie, though not a Lone Ranger movie.)

:)

message 45: by Jim (new)

Hi- Ho SILVER Away! (I'll go of the board for $50 Mike and go with "Silver" for the Horses name.)

Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 2933 comments Mod
No...Silver is the Lone Ranger's horse. The Ranger is an action figure but the movie where you find his nephew's horse's name is a holiday movie...maybe action in it's own way as the protagonist pictures himself saving his family from "Black Bart" (dressed in a striped shirt and with a group of thugs in striped shirts).

wow, there goes $50 from Action Adventure Horses column. (I admit to misreading the question...my bad.)

s'okay. I picked out an obscure question.

Victor Maeglin, Carry Grant, Joan Fontaine and Douglass Fairbanks Jr. had roles in one of the greatest action adventure flicks ever made, "Gunga Din."

What other famous roll did Douglass Fairbanks Jr. become known for?

(For a bonus question, which one became good friends with John Wayne?)
