My reading list for 2013

#1) "More Baths, Less Talking" by Nick Hornby published in 2012. My paperback. 135 pages. This is the fourth collection of Hornby's column from "The Believer" and I've read and loved all of them.

I can't believe it's the 12th and I've only finished one book. I am such a slacker!

No way! It's only the 12th! You have plenty, plenty of time! You're doing great, don't worry about it.

Thanks Tiffani! I've been caught in a whirlpool of decreasing books read each year and I am anxious to escape it's treacherous hold!

#2) "The Twelve Tribes of Hattie" by Ayana Mathis published in 2012. My hardcover. 243 pages.A gift from Veronica for Christmas, this was good enough to make me forget where I was a few times.

See, I came back to see how you were doing and you've already added another book to your list!

I haven't always agreed with Oprah's choices, but this looks like a good one!

My only complaint was that you didn't get to know any of the characters very well. Ms.Mathis is an excellent storyteller and she has the potential to write many great books.

Leshawn, I think that was Ann who asked you about The Twelves Tribes of Hattie :) But, I have been considering reading it so I'm glad to hear some more input on it.


You may already know but I thought I'd ask if you knew how to link books and covers/authors into your posts so that people can look at the book to read more about it. If you don't, I posted it below and if you do then you can just ignore this inquiry, haha!

3) At the bottom of the pop-up screen, there are two choices "link" or "cover" - you just click one of those
4) Then click the button "add" next to the title/cover you want to use.

And voila, it will appear in your post! You can do the same thing with linking to authors but clicking the 2nd tab (just called "author") and following the same steps.

#5) "Eleanor and Park" by Rainbow Rowell. 325 pages. Published in 2013. My Hardcover. Read in one day. I loved this book and I now have a crush on Rainbow Rowell.

#7) "The Dinner" by Herman Koch. Published in 2009. Translated from the Dutch by Sam Garret. 292 pages. Library book. Disturbing and spell-binding!

First Book on CD "Off the Menu" by Stacey Ballis. Read by Arielle DeLisle. Released in 2012. 8 CDs. Tantor Media. Library.

#8) "Orientation and Other Stories" by Daniel Orozco. Published in 2011. 162 pages. Library book. I liked all of the stories but the last one.

#9 "Southern Charm" by Tinsley Mortimer. Finished April 25.Published in 2012. 256 pages. Library book.

#10 "To the Moon and Back" by Jill Mansell. Finished 5-4-13. Published in 2011. 429 pages. Library book.

#11 "Songs Without Words" by Ann Packer. Finished 5-18-13. Published in 2007. 322 pages. Paperback from Daedalus.

how did you like Salem's Lot?

It was scary and good! I can't believe I took so long to read it because I love Stephen King. Are you a King fan Kelani?

The only books by Stephen King I have read is the Dark Tower series and I loves those. One of my goals for this year is to read 3 more of his books. The Mist is next but I havent tried any other books by him.

How did you like The Casual Vacancy? I have heard mixed things.

I enjoyed the book on CD very much! I loved the character development and what a full and complex world Rowling created!
