What's the Name of That Book??? discussion

A woman sees a ghost in the window while being courted by a wealthy gentleman, who drives the century first gasoline run car (think the late 1800's-early 1900's). The woman confesses to the gentleman that she saw a ghost in the window and he confirms that the previous owner did in fact die - supposedly he hung himself because in was in debt. However, its up to the woman to solve the mystery behind the man's death. Was it suicide or a murder. The couple start to investigate in order to figure out the truth.

I read this book around the summer of 1984. Does anyone know what it's called.
