Here is a thread to gain some knowledge or share some knowledge on different things that can be done here on Goodreads. Feel free to ask questions or answer if you know answers or another way to do something. I am still learning new things all the time.

How do I link a book? Above the comment box click on the add book/author. Type in title or author name and they can be linked by just the title Oliver Twist the cover If you want a specific cover click other editions and choose the one you want or or can link the author Charles Dickens

I have a question, or maybe more like a general wondering. I sign into Goodreads through my facebook account. If I change my profile picture on facebook, it won't change on Goodreads. Is there anything I can do to fix this, besides having to manually do it myself? It's kind of a pain to have to do it myself because, I use the goodreads app, and it doesn't allow me to change it through that. I don't always get on my computer.

Using spoilers. When posting on a book you can hide spoilers so as not to let key information be seen to any who doesn't want to. Above comment click (some html is ok) on the left there are many features. To the right is the command to type in to use it. By spoiler it shows you would type spoiler surrounded by <> then type in what you want hidden and again type spoiler surrounded with <> but notice the / this time before the >. (view spoiler)[should get this result when posted(view spoiler)[ (hide spoiler)] (hide spoiler)]

Similar codes are available to use italic or other font styles and are used the same way.

How do I make bookshelves? One way is if books are listed under your My Books, find the book you want and go across to the column bookshelves and click edit. You can create shelves under any title you wish and put books on as many shelves as you wish. Another way is when you browse books you will notice the button for I want to read has 3 books next to it which is a seperate button. Clicking I want to read will just send books to your To Read file. Clicking the 3 books will allow you to put them on a specific shelf including your tbr list. Clicking the 3 books will also let you choose the currently reading which will let you track your progress and list it on your homepage.

I find the reply function lacking. When I reply to a specific post, instead of leaving the truncated quote which might not include the part I want to reply to, I copy/paste the specific part. It's not hard to do, nor particularly time-consuming, but is there a better way to do this?

I have connected accounts too. As far as I know, goodreads doesn't receive info from facebook when you change your profile pic. All pic changes here are manual.

Aanya, I am ki.d of confused about your question. There is no status update on Goodreads. Also, the only pics you upload refer to your profile pic, which can be accessed and uploaded in settings.

Hi Aanya, I'm assuming you mean pictures of book covers? You click on the 'add book/author' just above the box where you write your comment. Hope this helps!
