Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments Any time I go the amazon website, guaranteed before I get a chance to look at even 1 book the thing freezes on me and I get an alert to say that Chrome has become unresponsive and I can either kill the pages or wait. Why is this happening to me? How do I fix it?

Michael Cargill (michaelcargill) | 2992 comments Try clearing your cache:

Tools > Settings > Settings > Show advanced settings > Clear Browsing Data.

Change the option at the top to 'the beginning of time'.

Tick all the boxes.

Click clear browsing data.

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments Took forever, I must have had a ton of browsing data. Off to Amazon I go for the moment of truth

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments It didn't kill my pages this time but I did get a shockwave plugin error. It was unresponsive and when I clicked to end it I got another message saying it had crashed

Michael Cargill (michaelcargill) | 2992 comments Go into Add/Remove programs and uninstall Adobe Shockwave.

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments Done, and I also removed a few other obsolete programs I had. Amazon still isn't working though

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments At least it seems to be only Amazon is being unresponsive now and its not killing all my other open pages

Michael Cargill (michaelcargill) | 2992 comments Hmmm.

Try disabling any Chrome extensions you have installed.

Link up the page that is crashing, I use Chrome at work.

Failing that, it might be an idea to uninstall Chrome and download it again.

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments It's just the amazon site that seems to do it, once I click onto a book to look at it.

And how do I know if I have any Chrome extensions?

message 10: by Michael (new)

Michael Cargill (michaelcargill) | 2992 comments You can check your extensions by going Tools > Settings > Extensions.

Elle (louiselesley) | 6579 comments I've found over the last week Chrome has been getting killed by a lot of pages. Maybe it's a Chrome thing?

Mark Faulkner (markrfaulkner) | 464 comments Amazon's been playing up for me today and I'm using firefox. it's not displaying pages properly, ie, no images. So, I don't know whether Amazon are having issues.

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments Mine seems to be sorted :o)

It might have been uninstalling the shockwave, cause right enough I probably needed a reboot.

Michael Cargill (michaelcargill) | 2992 comments Well, you'll no doubt be pleased to hear that all websites are working superbly for me, on every single browser available on my super duper woppsy daisy PC.
