Annelie Wendeberg @Veronica I guess it's because sex sells. Just one look at Amazon.com's Kindle Top100 bestseller list and all is clear: Lots of half naked dudes showing off their perfect abs. Alternatively: two white heterosexuals kissing.
Hence, we (white heterosexuals mostly) want Holmes to fit into our limited imagination.
(that's just my theory)
