Ready Player One discussion

I have had a SL account for many years and there are a lot of similarities to be sure. It's probably not really SL specific though, just a common set of facilities that are common to any decent VR environment. SL is the most 'open' of the current virtual worlds so I guess it's the one everyone compares with.

The biggest difference I noticed is that in SL, if you die you only get teleported back to your home location. You don't lose anything.

As to LL being controlled by a guy like Sorrento, that has crossed my mind as LL does continue to step on it's users toes from time to time. It's partially their own fault though. They made SL so open that it's easy for people, other than them, to make money. In the early days I believe they had a charge for teleporting, just like in the Oasis.
