Sarah (Oceanwhisper) | 28 comments Okay, well I am going to the library in three days time, and I would like to know some books for me to look for there that are-

Suitable for an 11 year old
Has something to do with magic and fantasy(preferrably dark magic)
Strong characters (or in other words, no Mary or Gary-sues)
Are mainly towards the adventure and fantasy genres

Fave books-
The Sight
Watership Down
Flame Girl
Chronicles of Ancient Darkness
Hunger Games
and a whole lot more...

Thanks in advance!

I've only hears of two of the books on your list, but I can see that you like animal books? Realistic ones? I'll see what I can do ...

Raven Quest by Sharon Stewart ? The Goose Girl (The Books of Bayern, #1) by Shannon Hale ? Don't know if you like romance. Silverwing by Kenneth Oppel ... I don't have anything in the way of dark magic, because I personally dislike dark stuff.

Sarah (Oceanwhisper) | 28 comments Thanks so much! And yes, I am a big fan of animal books xD I am definitely interested in those books as well!

Adam Angel Burn or Angelfire

Both sort of resemble The Hunger Games

Jadyn (fldsmdfr) Oh, I think you should read The Last Apprentice! It's very dark but it's okay for someone your age to read. I've read all of them and their great! There is a new book called Slither coming out this month! I'm super excited! Just thought this would be a good suggestion.

message 8: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (Oceanwhisper) | 28 comments Thanks! I've heard of The Last Apprentice before, and will definitely try to find it! And Slither sounds good too...

message 9: by Jadyn (new)

Jadyn (fldsmdfr) Yep, it is one of my favorite series! Your welcome!

Azura | 4 comments Have you read the Warriors series? If you haven't, I think you might like it, if you like the Sight. Also, you might want to try the Fablehaven series by Brandon Mull, Sabriel by Garth Nix, and the Amulet of Samarkand by Jonathan Stroud. They're all really good and hopefully not boring for you! Also, have you read The Sea of Trolls by Nancy Farmer?

message 12: by Azura (new)

Azura | 4 comments Hopefully they're not to light and fluffy. I didn't really read any 'dark' stuff when I was eleven, but they are all fantasy.

I agree! You should totally read the Warriors series!

The Grimm legacy

Emma Olsen (emmanoelleolsen) | 4 comments You might like Divergent but I'm not sure if it's appropriate for an 11-year-old. It depends on how mature you are.

message 17: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (Oceanwhisper) | 28 comments :D I've heard how amazing Divergent is and in all my tests my reading level is 15.5-16, so I'd say a mature reader? :) And thanks also, Sumaya, will check those out!
