So I'm delighted to say my English language teacher just wrote a book and it's brilliant! I was able to forget she was the one who wrote it because I was so into it. She starts off most of the chapters with titles like“How Dadi Got Carried Away”, “How Haroon Was Tied to the Knot” and “How Dadi Extracted a Proposal Just in Time” so you kind of know what's about to happen, but how that happens is the interesting part. I would love for readers outside of Pakistan to read it just so they get a feel of how insane Pakistani weddings actually are. For a long, long time arranged marriages was the way to go, and love marriages were taboo. Shazaf Fatima Haider does an amazing job at showing how the new generations finally fought away the taboos of love marriage.
