I should skim over the last several chapters and refresh more the points that jumped out at me over the last two readings, but the point which struck me the most from the last section (ch 20-24) was about how enlightening it was for Steven King's to have his first editor tare through an article King had written.
As I read through his experiences as a starting writer, I must admit that I feel that we are kindred spirits, at every point of his emotions and realizations I find his anecdotes relatable to my own feelings and discoveries of the process. The same is true for the line edits.
When I first starting going the our Group meetings in the First Congressional Church, we would exchange manuscripts, do abbreviated readings, and then make line edits and suggestions. And like it did for King, I felt that it opened a door to a new level of the craft I hadn't experienced before. I feel that this is something our group has lost.
