Yay! We'll have lots of fun. I'm trying to think of a picture theme for the threads...I had so much fun coming up with pics for Lonesome dove I thought I'd do it all over again. Any ideas for a pic theme???

Cats! Murakami loves his cats.

I picked up my copy at the library today. I only get to keep it for three weeks, longer if no one else puts a hold on it, in which case I can renew it for another three weeks.

I'm excited! I haven't been able to participate in the group reads much lately.

So are we thinking Cats then??

Me either! I always intend to read along with everyone and participate in the discussions, but I just keep getting caught up in that thing called life.

Jazz and classical music are also very common in Murakami's writing. Could be another interesting picture theme.

I may not be able to start until March but then I will catch up!

I am going to start this tonight or tomorrow and take notes so I can join in. Wish me luck on keeping up!

This book is awesome so far, and I can't seem to put it down. I'm apparently going to just read straight through and have to remember what was going on for discussions... :)

I got the book and I am going to try to keep up...I am still reading Lonesome Dove so we all can see how that worked for me...LOL.

Yes, definitely! I'm almost at the end of Book 1.

I dug up my copy of Lonesome Dove, fully intending on reading it and participating in the discussion. It's still on my night stand. :/

Well my book arrived earlier than I expected and since the Count of Monte Cristo hasn't started yet, I think I'll start this one today!

I finally bought a copy today!! :D

I'm planning on jumping in and I may have a friend who wants to join and read too!

Got my copy from the library and started reading it today. Should be able to comment on the first section tonight or tomorrow :D

When i get ahead (oh rare occasion that it is!) I try to take written notes at the end of each section, then i can just copy them here when the time comes.

Deana, I do the same thing, even more so when I have several books going which is normal for me!

I am doing the same thing right now. I have been taking notes so that I can join in on the discussion.

I've just started as well. Looking forward to the discussions!

I've been fighting off a cold/sinus infection for the last week...and currently. My ears are finally feeling well enough to listen again, I'm hoping to get all caught up this week...I really dislike sinus infections and how the make you so tired!! Gah!

I can't find my book!

well geez...it's not like it small...not a Harlequin romance or anything...did the fiancee use it as a doorstop??

Hahaha! I just have to make the time to look through my piles!

I have to return The Count of Monte Cristo. Someone put a hold on it, so I couldn't renew it.

Does this mean you'll be catching up to us in 1Q84??
