Michelle (michelle8731) I'm so excited that I'm almost done with reading for week three! I started reading yesterday :)

Zulfiya (ztrotter) Thank you, Kristi!

Kristi (kristicoleman) Yay! We'll have lots of fun. I'm trying to think of a picture theme for the threads...I had so much fun coming up with pics for Lonesome dove I thought I'd do it all over again. Any ideas for a pic theme???

Cats! Murakami loves his cats.

Amy (bibliocrates) I picked up my copy at the library today. I only get to keep it for three weeks, longer if no one else puts a hold on it, in which case I can renew it for another three weeks.

I'm excited! I haven't been able to participate in the group reads much lately.

message 9: by Kristi (new)

Kristi (kristicoleman) So are we thinking Cats then??

Or BIG Cats...

Maybe Cities...

message 10: by Kristi (new)

Kristi (kristicoleman) Yay Amy! Can't wait to get started!!

message 11: by Amy (new) - added it

Amy (bibliocrates) Me either! I always intend to read along with everyone and participate in the discussions, but I just keep getting caught up in that thing called life.

Andrea (tasseled) | 189 comments Jazz and classical music are also very common in Murakami's writing. Could be another interesting picture theme.

Rosemary I may not be able to start until March but then I will catch up!

message 14: by Loretta (new) - added it

Loretta (lorettalucia) I am going to start this tonight or tomorrow and take notes so I can join in. Wish me luck on keeping up!

Michelle (michelle8731) This book is awesome so far, and I can't seem to put it down. I'm apparently going to just read straight through and have to remember what was going on for discussions... :)

Kristina (kristina3880) I got the book and I am going to try to keep up...I am still reading Lonesome Dove so we all can see how that worked for me...LOL.

I dug up my copy of Lonesome Dove, fully intending on reading it and participating in the discussion. It's still on my night stand. :/

Well my book arrived earlier than I expected and since the Count of Monte Cristo hasn't started yet, I think I'll start this one today!

When i get ahead (oh rare occasion that it is!) I try to take written notes at the end of each section, then i can just copy them here when the time comes.

message 29: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Deana, I do the same thing, even more so when I have several books going which is normal for me!

Kristina (kristina3880) I am doing the same thing right now. I have been taking notes so that I can join in on the discussion.

MichelleCH (lalatina) | 41 comments I've just started as well. Looking forward to the discussions!

message 32: by Kristi (new)

Kristi (kristicoleman) I've been fighting off a cold/sinus infection for the last week...and currently. My ears are finally feeling well enough to listen again, I'm hoping to get all caught up this week...I really dislike sinus infections and how the make you so tired!! Gah!

message 33: by Andrea (new)

Andrea I can't find my book!

message 34: by Kristi (new)

Kristi (kristicoleman) well geez...it's not like it small...not a Harlequin romance or anything...did the fiancee use it as a doorstop??

message 35: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Hahaha! I just have to make the time to look through my piles!

message 36: by Kristi (new)

Kristi (kristicoleman) Ok everyone, this week is a break week. This lets anyone who has fallen behind (eh hem...me) catch up. please feel free to read ahead and keep notes, we will be back to our regularly scheduled reading next week!

message 37: by Amy (new) - added it

Amy (bibliocrates) I have to return The Count of Monte Cristo. Someone put a hold on it, so I couldn't renew it.

Kristi (kristicoleman) Welcome Sandra, I look forward to having you with us!!

message 40: by Kristi (new)

Kristi (kristicoleman) I've posted an Overall thread that can be used by everyone who's finished the book to discuss without any risk of giving away spoilers. I will continue posting the weekly threads, but I just wanted to put that one up since in the last weekly thread it was requested. Hope you are all enjoying the book as it winds down!
