Matthew Anderson | 60 comments I recently bought all 3 books, and I was wondering if anyone else wanted to read them or at least the first one sometime in the near future.

Joshua Black (b1gblack) | 19 comments Hell yes. It's been on my list for a while but I have never quite been able to decide to get to it.

Jeff Namadan (jnamadan) | 218 comments I just read them last month. Good stuff as I'm going thru the books again. Just be warned that the next trilogy after this one (Jedi Academy) is, um, pretty bad.

Matthew Anderson | 60 comments Yeah I've been warned to avoid Jedi Academy a few times, actually.

I just read the 1st book and made myself take a break before the next one as it's that rough.

message 7: by Thebecca (new)

Thebecca I've read a lot of the Star Wars novels. The Timothy Zahn ones are all great. I also really enjoyed the X-Wing series. Some of the others are poorly written and inconsistent. There is also a great deal of shark jumping the farther away from the movies you get chronologically.

Poorly written. All the characters were off and very whiny.

Bill Cooper | 9 comments Oh, absolutely. I have Heir to the Empire and although I haven't read it, I've been recommended by two others to do so. Tim Zahn is one of the best writers for the Star Wars universe, and after reading Outbound Flight and learning about Thrawn, I'd love to read this series.

Daran | 599 comments I just listened to the 20th Anniversary edition audiobook of Heir. It was very good. I'd like nothing more than discussing one of the best Star wars things ever made.

James H. (jhedrick) | 128 comments The Timothy Zahn books are the best of the Star Wars Expanded Universe, bar none. The later duology (The Hand of Thrawn) is quite good as well. Haven't read Zahn's more recent ones (after the Prequels messed with, well, everything) but I assume their as well written.

I just got this on Audible. I heard it's awesome. Going to start it after I finish A Feast for Crows.
