Mia K Rose (miakrose) With Month9Book's first YA title released featuring angels (A Shimmer of Angels), we thought its time to find out which paranormal being comes out on top.

So tell us which being you like the most, either to read or watch about, and why?

While some people may be pulling away from them, I'll never come to hate the brooding vampire. They're tortured and most seek companionship. Look what happened to Lestat in his quest for such a thing. But of course the first tortured vampire was Dracula, and his desire for a human female (well maybe made famous, there could've been earlier works). Though the Sookie Stackhouse novels has endeared me also to the cocky type of vampires who don't shun their nature, like Eric (might also help he was a Viking).

What about you?

Vanessa | 1 comments Hmmm... I always have a soft spot for vampires. I also love shapeshifters. Selkies, werewolves, and the oddball person who has some sort of gift - be it magic or psychic abilities.

Really, I just love the paranormal stuff. If it sounds good, I'll read it! :)

Sarah Bromley (sarah_bromley) | 2 comments I love ghost stories. And I'm biased since I wrote about them, but I love telepathic and telekinetic abilities. I read CARRIE by Stephen King in eighth grade and it has stuck with me something fierce.

Jamie Krakover (rockets2writing) oo this is a tough question. I don't really have a favorite but I love when authors take the existing lore and twist it in a new way.

Mia K Rose (miakrose) I agree, authors taking the traditional vampire myth which Stoker adapted from Vlad Dracul's own fears and life to make Dracula, and making their own unique spin is refreshing. Though very little get past the staking aspect (at least it isn't impaling, right?).

Neil Cochrane I always enjoy seeing lesser known creatures, like selkies--which are the coolest, by the way.

As far as vampires go, I find the pre-Vlad Tepes legends to be far more interesting, especially the superstitions about how to identify and combat vampires. One of my favorite vampire tidbits is the old belief that they were arithmomaniacs--obsessive counters. Medieval people in Eastern Europe would advise scattering rice or grain at the door or around the grave of a suspected vampire to keep them counting until dawn.
