Before I switched over to an author account, the currently reading section of my profile displayed a progress bar showing how far along I was in the books I was reading. Is there a reason the author profiles don't display the progress bar? Would other Goodreads authors want this feature?

I am a goodreads author and I still have the progress bars. On my home page to the right under the currently reading tab it shows my books and the progress and where I can update them. It must be your account or maybe you are not looking in the right place????

I can see it on the Goodreads home page, but other people can't see it if they look at my profile.

Have you listed any progress or is it still zero percent?

I have on Cloud Atlas . It shows up as 47% on the Goodreads home page, just not on my profile page.

I don't see a progress bar on any of your current books when I click through to your profile.

Hmmm....That is wierd. I never noticed that. My friends could always see when I updated the status. Maybe we cannot see our own status that way but others can?
