message 1: by Becky (new)

Becky Jennifer stood in front of the science fiction bookshelf with a pile of books in her hands. She was refilling the shelves in the post mid-day lull and trying to find a new book to read for the rest of her shift. She had pretty much read all the fantasy books and so had decided to branch out into the world of sci-fi for a change.

message 2: by Becky (new)

Becky Jen looked up from the bookshelf when she heard the door, a blonde haired woman, not much older than herself, had walked in. Jen put on her brightest smile and came over.
"Afternoon! Can I help you with anything, or do you know what you are looking for?" It was in her job description to personally greet everyone that came through the door. She still cradled the pile of books in her arms as she walked across the shop. "Is it seriously still snowing out there?" She said conversationally.

message 3: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (Oceanwhisper) Serena walked in confidently through the doors, looking for a cookbook. She looked through a few of them, flicking the pages quickly. She was meant to be making a cake, as her second job was a cake designer, and she needed inspiration. She finally settled on the two she'd been looking for, and walked up to the counter. "May I please buy these books?" and she handed the equivalent amount of cash.

message 4: by Becky (new)

Becky Jen smiled apologetically at the blonde girl and went to serve the person standing at the counter. "Sure! Do you need a bag for them?" Jen carefully placed her arm full of books down on the counter and punched in the correct code on the till. "Did you find everything you were looking for today?" Jen forced another bright smile and put a leaflet on top of the customers books. It was an advertisement for a show she was participating in for the next week, she'd made a deal with her boss to give each paying customer one.

message 5: by Becky (new)

Becky "If you're looking at fantasy books I can recommend the Fern Evans books, they've been flying off the shelves lately." Jen picked up her stack of books again walked over to the Science Fiction section and began putting them on the shelves.

message 6: by Becky (new)

Becky Jen blushed furiously. "Oh, wow." Jen couldn't believe she hadn't recognised her. "Well, there's the Green Rider series, they've been pretty popular recently and are very good. Or there is Eyes Like Stars, not hugely popular but still a really good read, it's one of my personal favourites." She pointed out a few of her other favourite books and had to stop herself from asking for Fern's autograph as she had one of her books behind the counter that she had finished that morning.

message 7: by Becky (new)

Becky Jen smiled sheepishly, she wasn't a normally shy person, she couldn't be with all that her boss asked her to do. "Erm, yeah. Its this one." She pulled out a blue hardback with a picture of a girl surrounded by weird little blobs of light. "Don't let the cover fool you, its a book with integrity."

message 8: by Becky (new)

Becky Jen followed her over to the counter and tapped the key pad on the till again. "Do you need a bag for it?" Asked Jen as she unconsciously placed one of her leaflets on top of the book whilst also fishing around under the counter for a bag.

message 9: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (Oceanwhisper) (Sorry)

Serena smiled as she took the leaflet and nodded. "A bag would be great thanks!"

message 10: by Becky (new)

Becky (no worries :) sorry I just moved on)

message 11: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (Oceanwhisper) (That's fine ;) )

message 12: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (Oceanwhisper) Serena smiled at the other girl. "Hi, I'm Serena. What's your name?"

message 13: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (Oceanwhisper) Serena sighed contentedly. "What book did you get? I just got two cake books, as my other job is a cake designer!" she began to babble, but quickly stopped.

message 14: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (Oceanwhisper) Serena nodded enthusiastically. She couldn't stop, as that was just her. "I'm an author as well! I got quite a shock, but it was pleasant, when I first saw my books in the store. I had never intended them to get published, and was just going to be a cake designer, but then my mum decided to send them off to a publisher, and well, the accepted them! I've always-" but then she cut herself off, blushing majorly. "Sorry, I get a bit talkative sometimes..." she apologised, blushing even more.

message 15: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (Oceanwhisper) "Rage, Fury and Ambush. But I'm also working on this other book, that I've been working on for a while...But it doesn't seem to be going anywhere so I've paused it for awhile. What about you?" she said cheerfully, any redness gone.

message 16: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (Oceanwhisper) "Really! I have read all of your books! Can you believe it?! This is such a privilege, talking to one of my favourite authors...and if you mean one of my books, the first one's Rage. Do you have any pets? I have two labrador puppies, Mickey and Minnie, who I hope to breed one day when I can buy my own house. I also have four mice, Eenie, Meenie, Miney and Mo, as well as Garry and Stacey the lovebirds. You're not really supposed to have pets in my apartment, but I pay extra for them, and it's worth it!" she talked on, slapping her mouth shut. "So sorry, again."

message 17: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (Oceanwhisper) "I've always wanted a cat! But the people who own the place my apartment's in said absolutely no cats, but I can have any other animal? So strange, isn't it?" she said, smiling.

message 18: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (Oceanwhisper) Serena shrugged. "But I guess when I find my own place, I won't be restricted! I've been browsing awhile now, but nothing that appealing has caught my eye, so I'm just content with where I am."

message 19: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (Oceanwhisper) Serena nodded enthusiastically. "That would be great! But um, do you mind if I bring my puppies?" Here, she paused and opened her hand bag even more, which was in fact massive, and there, curled up beside each other, were two black labrador puppies, food and water at one end, with them at the other. "I take them everywhere, and they never seem to complain. I know it's sort of mean, but I can't leave them at home, in case the owner of the apartment decides to get rid of them as well!"

message 20: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (Oceanwhisper) Serena nodded thankfully as Fern held the door open and she went outside. "Are we walking or driving or riding?" she asked happily, zipping her bag up, but leaving a suitable air gap.

message 21: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (Oceanwhisper) "Cute scooter!" she said. But then she gestured to the other empty parks. "I don't have a car, so if you don't mind, I'd like to come with you?"

message 22: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (Oceanwhisper) Serena leaped on, seeing her bag secure in the basket. She was excited, never being on a scooter before.

message 23: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (Oceanwhisper) ((Meet you there ;)))

★RavenclawReader★ (stargazer101) | 6 comments For most, a bookstore was just that - a bookstore. But for Kiona Espen, a bookstore was no different than an art gallery. While she may be no artist, one could not ignore how similar the two are. They both showcase a talented person's creations, whether they be good or bad, new or nostalgic. An artist would always be proud to see their work on a gallery's walls, with your name printed on a piece of paper under it.

Running her finger along the edge of the book shelf in "Contemporary Poetry", Kiona finally saw the book. Her book. It made her feel proud and good inside, like a parent watching their grown child succeed after leaving the house. Tales of Winter had started out as a humble thought, no more important than the fleeting ideas in your brain. Then, it had developed in her mind rapidly, until it was a poem on paper. After she had published that, a new idea had come like a blooming bud in spring - Arianne. Kiona smiled at the memory.

Noah opened the door to the book store, a smile spread across his face, he had his cottage, to which he called his home, but here, amongst all these books, be they new or old, fictional or fact, romance or thriller. This was his true home, to be amongst such wonderful things. Books had the influence to change the world, not many knew the quiet power of them but people like himself did, they understood how simple words written on paper had the power to change ones life.

Stepping further into the store, he allowed himself to stroll down the many aisles, his eyes filled with wonder and curiosity. What could he find today, his eyes scanned over the many spines, reading the titles, Midsummers Night Dream, Leader Of The Pack, Simplicity of Insanity and Days of Hatred And Love each title hinting at the contents within.

((Gimme 15 minutes, jumping in the shower!))

MOVED - CHECK BIO (izzylightfleur) Will walked into the book store and strolled the aisles. He was looking for something interesting and new to read. Maybe a mystery, he thought. He needed some inspiration for something to write. He'd been having writer's block for a while and it'd been bothering him. He thought that if he found a new book to read, he'd be able to overcome his writer's block. Hopefully.

message 27: by [deleted user] (new)

Turning the corner, Noah caught sight of Will, he smiled as he walked up him, "hey, looking a bit stunned," he chuckled, leaning against the edge of a shelf.

message 28: by Becky (new)

Becky Jen ran at full speed into the bookshop. Her boss was gonna have her guts for garters she was so late! The rehearsal at the studio had over run because one of the younger girls had fallen badly when her partner dropped her during a lift. She ran into the back room, dumped her stuff unceremoniously while still clutching onto her precious note book and ran back out. She stopped behind the counter where her boss was giving her THAT look.
"I'm sorry Bill, I had to drive Hilary over to the hospital because Brad dropped Millie in the middle of their pas de demux. Totally bloody mess!" She clipped her badge onto the front of her shirt and tried to smile sweetly at Bill. "I'll just go and...um, put these books on the shelf...um, shall I?" She picked up a big pile of books from behind the counter and scuttled away from her boss's piercing gaze.

message 29: by [deleted user] (new)

Noah shrugged at the boys silence, and wandered off in search of a book himself, he was desperate for something to fill his sleepless nights, there's only so many movies you can watch repeatedly.
He rounded the corner, deciding to pause here and examine the books, picking the odd few, to scan the blurp on the back of them.

message 30: by Becky (new)

Becky Jen rounded the corner of the bookshelf, absorbed in looking for the right shelf and almost walked into one of the customers. She saw him just in time to avoid crashing into him, when she fully looked at him Jen realised it was the guy from the cafe, the one she had given her email to.
"Oh, hey. Scottish guy!" She blurted out before she could stop herself. "Oh God, sorry that was rude."

message 31: by [deleted user] (new)

Noah glanced up, his face was confused at first, he hadn't really been paying attention since he had been examining the books in his hands, his eyes landed on Jen, the girl from the cafe.

"Oh hey! It's fine, Clementine admitted she calls me 'dog-man'" he smirked, replacing the books in their correct places.

message 32: by Becky (new)

Becky Jen smiled in return. "I admit it was a hard choice, dog-man almost won I can tell you, but I thought Scottish-guy was more appropriate, and less common." She suddenly found what she had been looking for and squeezed one of the books onto the shelf between two truly enormous hardbacks. "I never did catch your name." She realised she might seem a bit forward but oh well; she shrugged on the inside. "Unless of course you want to be called Scottish-Guy."

message 33: by [deleted user] (new)

"Scottish-Guy, Dog-Man, hell they make me seem more interesting, should tell my publishers to change my pen name," he laughed easily, before adding, "It's Noah, Noah Granger," a smile taking rein of his features, he was quite a handsome lad when he smiled, it was natural beauty to most people, along with his nice straight teeth, it was a bonus.

message 34: by Becky (new)

Becky "You could always combine the two and call yourself Scotty Dog." She smiled mischievously. "Pleasure to meet you Noah." She returned his smile with ease, although she had look up to him on account of her being so short. He really wasn't that bad looking, Jen thought to herself, then realised she was staring and cleared her throat. "Well, it was nice seeing you again Noah, but I have a lot of work to do." She gestured to the books in her arms. "We should catch up some time."

Aiyana, A PotterWhoLockian Arthur walked in, breathing in the lovely smell. Looking around at everything, he made straight for the best sellers shelf, wanting to look at some books there. He found a stack of books with interesting titles, and ignoring the fact that there were other people he sat smack down in the middle of the isle, reading the blurbs and the first few pages of each book.

★RavenclawReader★ (stargazer101) | 6 comments "Excuse me." Kiona mutters, stepping over a man. Arianne is up to her nose. She had a million copies of it at home, but she wanted the reader's experience... not the writer's.

Soon, Kiona reaches the final stanza:

My flames are gone:
So am I!
Arianne, the girl known for playing for fire.

"I always could actually," he said quite seriously, smirking at the idea, "I'll let you get on then, can't keep you from earning". Noah waved her a goodbye as he rounded another corner, looking for something decent to read. Humming contentedly as he went.
