This Wednesday we'll be talking with Rachel Aaron What should we ask her?

message 2: by Lindsay (new)

Lindsay | 593 comments You've written traditional fantasy, science fiction (as Rachel Bach) and now urban fantasy with your Heartstrikers books. Do you have a favorite sub-genre?

Will we see more Rachel Bach SF books?

message 3: by Kristina (new)

Kristina | 588 comments I'm terrible at thinking up questions.. but I love her books!

message 4: by terpkristin (new)

terpkristin | 4407 comments Dragon urban fantasy?!? You had me at dragon!

What did she do before she took up writing full time?

What was the last book she read for fun, entirely on her own volition (no research or other book pro stuff... ;) )? Did she enjoy it?

What book or books made her a fan of our fun genre? When did she read it? When did she realize that she wanted to write on this genre?

It seems that some of her stuff is a bit on the romantic side. How does she keep balance between the romance and the other stuff, to keep fans of both genres engaged?

What is her favorite adult beverage? Favorite dessert?

terpkristin | 4407 comments Has she seen/heard of the Books Aren't Dangerous campaign (http://booksarentdangerous.com/)? What book would she post a selfie with?

message 6: by Tamahome (new)

Tamahome | 7222 comments How many words a day do you write now, since you wrote "2k to 10K" http://www.rachelaaron.net/books-nonf... ?

message 7: by John (Taloni) (new)

John (Taloni) Taloni (johntaloni) | 5196 comments That was her? Kate Danley loved that book and specifically recommended it in her writing panel. Kate said that she wrote large portions of Maggie for Hire after reading "2K to 10K" and that she used her advice on an ongoing basis

So...making a question out of that...

How do you feel about inspiring writers, to the extent that they are able to make a fulltime career out of writing?

message 8: by Erica (new)

Erica (si1verdrake) | 14 comments I adored the Eli Monpress books, and I love the whole "gentleman thief" trope. Are there any particular heist or thief novels that inspired you?

message 9: by Lindsay (new)

Lindsay | 593 comments Eli Monpress is a great character, but the compelling one for me in that series is Nico.

message 10: by David H. (new)

David H. (bochordonline) When you were on a podcast earlier this year (SF Signal, maybe?), you talked about all the romance novels you were reading, and that you'd like to write your own sometime, like a Regency romance focused on one of the "bad girls"--is that something you really want to do in the near future, or is that a "some day!" project? :)

Along that general topic, any good romance novels suggestions? I know you just got back from the RT convention!

Tamahome | 7222 comments Do you watch Vaginal Fantasy?

message 13: by G. Derek (new)

G. Derek Adams You've become something of a 'hybrid' author - mixing traditional publishing with self-publishing, you've also been very open on your blog about how this has functioned for you on a financial basis [thank you for that!]. Now that you're really hip-deep into this - how do you think this 'hybrid' model is good or bad for authors? How is it good or bad for readers?
