My worst habit is chewing my nails when it gets to a really good part!!! :)

message 302: by Wendy (new)

Wendy (sinfullykarmatic) I read the last sentence if not the last paragraph, I cant stand it yet cant help myself

message 303: by Christian (new)

Christian Maria Morgan sometimes i skip over to the juicy parts, and i don't keep books in pristine condition

hang me

message 304: by Kathy (new)

Kathy | 56 comments There was a topic on this or another forum I watch that asked what readers do when a book does not look interesting; how far do they read? Well, instead of putting the book down and returning it to the library, I tend to skip over parts, read the first sentence of some paragraphs in order to get to the ending.

And like Cassandra I stay up way too late reading if the book is good.

message 305: by Lizz (new)

Lizz | 5 comments Like a very avid reader I stay up late reading good books, when they are not that good I tend to procrastinate, just like today, until I tell myself that I must finish it, but is several days later :p And sometimes I peek at the end of the book.

message 306: by Destany (new)

Destany | 25 comments I block out everything if I'm reading someone I like you could be screaming my name and I wouldn't know until you get right in my face.

I also will stay up way to long.

message 307: by Allyson (new)

Allyson (statsnerd) | 33 comments I definitely do the staying up late thing as well. But more specifically I have a very bad habit when I get a new book I have been waiting to release. I will get the book and end up not sleeping at all so I can finish it that day. I have had many days at work on no sleep because of this and then I'm also sadI have nothing to read the next night becausr I already finished it. So exasperating!

message 308: by Robbi (new)

Robbi (piper16) | 5 comments I stay up way to late and get a book done in a day. Or i'll read for three day strait and get 5 books in. Then not read for 2 weeks.

message 309: by Jenifer (new)

Jenifer (jenifergicano) | 7 comments Bre wrote: "I sometimes go to the end of the book..."

me too.

message 310: by Jenifer (new)

Jenifer (jenifergicano) | 7 comments I sometimes don't concentrate on reading a book because I'm excited to read another book that I find interesting.

message 311: by Kelly (new)

Kelly (kellytam) | 8 comments Well, i have loads.. Sometimes i stay up late to read a book(i think everyone does that if the book is interesting) and some times i when i'm halfway through the chapter and it's dinner time or whatever, i'll just say "Let me finish this chapter first." and i ended up reading the next and the next and the next chapters.. :3 sometimes when i finish this chapter, i wonder, should i continue or not, maybe the next chapter isn't that long so i'll just read and read.. Sometimes i leave a book that i'm halfway to read another book becuz it's so fasicnating.. :3

message 312: by Mochaspresso (new)

Mochaspresso | 27 comments At first, it seemed like ebooks cured me of that nasty habit of reading ahead for spoilers. Now, I go online for them. When I can't find them on my own, I've even posted messages in goodreads asking people to tell me what happens next in a book.

message 313: by Selma (new)

Selma | 28 comments I sometimes read qoutes from the book or something like that, before I actually read the book, and that way I pick up a few spoilers :P It's not always bad though, sometimes I just look at it as reassurance.

Luz Patrizsa Hyacinth Villamor (aryadaenerys) I stay up way too late at night when I really like a book and I also have the habit of reading 'til I can practically hear my eyes scream, "are you planning on making me blind?!!!". I don't know... Maybe I'm such a masochist. And I tend to scream at the pages if something frustrates me. And then end up crying.

message 315: by Amber (new)

Amber | 9 comments I have realized my newest bad reading habit is getting 5 books from the library and not being able to read them all before they are due... So I end up making more trips back and forth to renew and pick them up again!!! And this is already after renewing online!

Really thinking about getting a reader... but.... I love the feel of a book!

message 316: by N (new)

N | 276 comments I actually sellotaped down the last 5 chapters of The Deathly Hallows because I knew I couldn't resist a peek.

my worst habit is spine cracking - my daughter's books look pristine and mine look like the entire army have read them - on a mission, in the jungle.

message 317: by Melissa (new)

Melissa (missams) | 59 comments Bre wrote: "I sometimes go to the end of the book..."

I do the same thing. While I am reading the book I would read the last few pages just to find out what has happened.

message 318: by ALLY (new)

ALLY (allynicjo) | 25 comments I start reading at like 2am when I know I have to do something that day and know that I NEED a good nights rest.. but no, I'll read until around 5 or 6am and then get maybe 4 hours of sleep.

And I 'll do this almost every night. BAD HABIT!

message 319: by Marie (new)

Marie (clarisse723) | 31 comments Rachel wrote: "I've kind of stopped doing it so much (especially now that most of my books are ebooks), but I've often had a huge problem with getting so curious, that I just had to flip to the back of the page a..."

Me too! :O

message 320: by Marie (new)

Marie (clarisse723) | 31 comments My worst reading habit is losing focus and not understanding or even remembering a single word I read because my brain's traveled to another faraway land.

message 321: by Sophia (new)

Sophia (sophianise) | 8 comments My worst habits are:
When I read half of a book and really like it, but then get busy and forget about it and have to re-read the whole thing because I forgot what was happening
AND when I read a paragraph and I'm distracted so I have to reread it again!

message 322: by Tom (last edited Jun 02, 2013 04:13AM) (new)

Tom Krug (thomas_krug) | 22 comments If I see a sentence somewhere down the page that stands out--bold, CAPS or italicized, I'm compelled to glance down and read it.

I regret it every single time.

message 323: by Emma (new)

Emma Joy | 15 comments When I get too excited, I peek on the last page of the book to see how the story would end.

There was this time when I was reading Jane Eyre, I was fighting against myself whether I had to skip some pages first because I have to know if she married Mr. Rochester.

BAD READING HABIT!

message 324: by Amy (new)

Amy | 16 comments I have way too many of these habits (I refuse to call them bad!). Books on the ipad has reduced the amount of time I spend reading in the bath! Though my horrible bathtub may have done that also lol.
I am a spontaneous book buyer and I have got so many ebooks that I doubt I'll EVER get through them, not even that stops me from expanding my e-library! Goodreads has been a blessing & a curse because I have found dozens more books that I want to read! I'm sure I have some sort of compulsion :-)

message 325: by Isabella (new)

Isabella (isabellabellab) I skim read fight scenes and miss the important things - that's annoying. Also i have a bad habit of not stopping to eat - I'll grab some food and carry on reading and often spill in the book .-.
And then I'll almost always finish my books even if I hate them so I'll just read really fast to get to a better one.
Also I have a bad habit of hating the main character if she's a girl who has the attention of a perfect male - but only if she's not good enough for him in my opinion

message 326: by Ananth (new)

Ananth Ramachandran | 1 comments have all the above bad habits and adding to that I ll buy 3 books simultaneously and end up incompleted after some days and lose interest in reading the remaining.. ! :( so I am trying to find a way by reading 1 book at a time...

message 327: by Kevin (new)

Kevin (khardman) | 9 comments Sometimes I'll be eager to know the outcome, so I'll skip ahead to the end and read it.

message 328: by Trinity (new)

Trinity (tsundokuproblem) A bad reading habit that people do is reading the last page before starting the book! Ughh

message 329: by Cara Isa (new)

Cara Isa (isabelas) | 2 comments Trinity wrote: "A bad reading habit that people do is reading the last page before starting the book! Ughh"

YES. So true! :((( but we all do it some time...and then instantly regret it lol
But sometimes YOU JUST HAVE TO you know? Hahaha

message 330: by Sheena (new)

Sheena Binkley | 61 comments I have several bad habits, especially trying to find out how many pages are left in a chapter. If the book is really good, I tend to stay up late trying to finish.

message 331: by Jillian (new)

Jillian Eslami I have a few bad habits, they are the same as a lot of yours! I read WAY to late in the night, I have WAY to many books on my to read list, I can never catch up! I add books to numerous lists that I have ALL THE TIME and then when I finish a book it is so hard to pick a new one!

message 332: by Nat (new)

Nat | 15 comments giving up in the middle of the book..but maybe it's a good habit.. because I get to move on to something better

message 333: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Richards (sarahjorichards) | 21 comments When a book starts to get wordy, or lengthy in it's descriptions, I scan rapidly to find a more interesting bit.
In this way, I finish nearly every book I start. I may not read it in depth, but in gist.

message 334: by ree (last edited Jun 12, 2013 04:30PM) (new)

ree | 24 comments Bringing my e-reader everywhere.
Asking myself prior to switching purses, "Will my Nook fit it there..." with genuine concern!

Also, reading under the covers at 2am, (with no air!) so I don't disturb my slumbering prince with the back light. :(
What a rebel I am!

message 335: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Richards (sarahjorichards) | 21 comments Another horrible habit I have. I read with the light on while my hubby has to sleep before work. I genuinely lose tack of time.

message 336: by Karen (new)

Karen (karinlib) My bad habit is that I read all the time, even when I should be studying for finals, cooking dinner, you name it, reading for pleasure always comes first. Thankfully my husband thinks reading is a wonderful habit.

message 337: by Sydney (new)

Sydney Wallace | 22 comments I read when I walk, sometimes. Which leads to strange looks, and the occasional injury. When I took baths(can't now because of a skin condition) I read in the tub. Only bad things happened there. ;)

message 338: by Josephine (new)

Josephine Brooks (josephinelbrooks) | 5 comments I'll admit it. I'm a page skipper. But only when I start to lose interest. If I'm flipping to the end then the book is as good as done for me. I'm not the most patient reader. :)

message 339: by [deleted user] (new)

My bad book habit is that I either read a book for 6 hours straight and finish it, or leave it alone for days on end.

There is no in-between for me.

jay (p3rksofbeingjay) | 12 comments Zoe wrote: "My bad book habit is that I either read a book for 6 hours straight and finish it, or leave it alone for days on end.

exactly same here.

message 341: by Anna (new)

Anna Michelle (michellebelle925) | 6 comments I read while I cook...that's not always a good thing! Also while I walk, I've run into a few poles that way.

message 342: by David (new)

David Murphy (davidmurphy) | 2 comments Reading several books at once to the detriment of enjoying any.

message 343: by Laura (new)

Laura (laurapie) I have so many bad habits. The worst, I think, is reading multiple books at once. I had seven going at one point. The upside is that I have a good memory. I also read in the bathtub a lot which means wet books from time to time.

message 344: by David (new)

David Murphy (davidmurphy) | 2 comments Reading anything and everything the internet throws at me. So I think I'll turn it off and get back to a good book I've been neglecting.

message 345: by Delphy (new)

Delphy When I get bored with a book, I skip to the very end and read the last page or sometimes even the last chapter. Also reading too many books at once.

message 346: by Ashley (new)

Ashley I start too many series and don't finish them at once and I like to curl the corners of the page while I read

message 347: by Rashmi (new)

Rashmi V | 2 comments I have this bad habit of not finishing a book i start. it does not happen always, but only when I get hold of a new more interesting book. it is a really bad habit according to me, and as of now I am not doing anything to change this habit. Currently I started reading Anne of Green Gables - beautiful book. i am thoroughly enjoying reading it. what i should not have done is leave another amazing novel in the middle, and keep it that way for a long time.

message 348: by Alissa (new)

Alissa (accon) If I'm really enjoying a book I skip ahead to see what happens. I always regret doing it though! (Same with TV shows - I love spoilers! Weird I know).

message 349: by Wendy (new)

Wendy | 12 comments Rashmi wrote: "I have this bad habit of not finishing a book i start. it does not happen always, but only when I get hold of a new more interesting book. it is a really bad habit according to me, and as of now I ..."

same here.. i've stopped reading passion simply bedause it seemed to me there where other books that have to be read first..

message 350: by Wamika (new)

Wamika Bad reading habits. Lets see..
1.I have this bad habit of skipping to last few pages and reading the ending before even starting the book.

2.Also even if i like the book or not i just cannot leave it mid way.

3.And i cannot read without a book mark.
