Alex has two distinct personalities, and compartmentalizes it fairly well. In town, where she grew up in, Alex is a well-behaved upstanding member of society. In the west, Alex is anything but. She flirts, drinks, and does whatever she wants to without any regard to what others might think. Rules don't apply to her, or even phase her slightly to not do whatever she wants to. Alex's main goal is to enjoy life and break the rules, unless she's in town- of course.

Alex was raised in an extremely conservative out-standing Jamestown family. Her father, being the pastor of the area, is one of the key leaders in the settlement's daily lives. Despite this, Alex always had dreams of grandeur and escaping the constrictive life with her father. When she was sixteen years old, she convinced her father to allow her to accompany her uncle on an expedition to the West. When her uncle died on the travels, she assumed command of the expedition. When she returned, she was hailed a hero and was allowed to travel whenever she wanted. As such, she lived loosely when away from her father's disapproving glare, and forced under the expectations of him whenever she was in the colony
