In the meantime, reviewers are invited to contact me or my publisher if they are interested in reviewing a digital advanced reading copy of the novel.

Sonia and I will be discussing my forthcoming novel, "The Recipient", my dual career as an author and Intensive Care Nurse and how I kick started my published career.

Listeners can tune in via the live stream on the ABC Adelaide page (http://www.abc.net.au/radio/stations/...) or by tuning in through the ABC Radio app.

Thanks Brenda. I'm pretty excited as you can imagine.

Oh you are so right there!
For months now, I feel like I've been wading through a thick soup and not getting anywhere and then, all of a sudden, a few things happened all at once and I'm like, How Did That Happen???
Now I've gotta get over my radio nerves!

Oh trust me - if there is one thing I've learned from previous radio encounters, that is to dress comfortably.
I take my lead from the great Demis Roussos these days.

Thanks Veronica.
I was going to try and include links to the various apps that are available but I think its best to keep it simple - to the one link. People will figure it out.
I'm really excited. I have wanted to appear on the ABC in the past but I always seemed to make a hash of it in my approach to them.
This time around, I've pitched myself as the ICU Nurse/Author and it seems that they've responded to that.

Well, my interview with ABC Adelaide went ahead yesterday and, despite my nerves, I think I did okay.
The interview is available now as an mp3 download from my website;

or you can listen to it over at YouTube;

I'd love to hear what you think.

Things are on pause at the moment, what with the North American summer vacation, but next week we'll be back into final rounds of proofing the galley.
I posted elsewhere that interested readers can contact my publisher (or myself) if they would like to review an advanced reading copy in PDF format.
Contact [email protected]
or myself at

I meant to say earlier, also, that readers are invited to sign up for my newsletter. Subscribers will receive exclusive news and updates - not frequently, in a spammy sort of way - and will get advanced notice of planned competitions and giveaways.
As a thank you, subscribers will also receive two free novellas by me.
The direct link for sign up is here;

I've just released an all new trailer to YouTube and I'm really proud of it. You can find it here.

Dean will be running some giveaways over the next little while in the lead up to the release. They've actually got one going on over at FB right now (open to all) where you can win a signed Advanced Reader's Copy of the novel by sharing the video across your social feed between now and Feb. 20th 2016.

Thanks Patty,
Yes - the final copy is quite a lot different to the early ARC we were sending out. I guess that is the idea with ARC's - by getting that early feedback we can make changes to the text in order to get it into the best shape it can be for release.
I appreciated that immensely.

The Recipient follows Casey Schillinge - a vivacious young woman on the verge of making her mark on the world. While on a backpacking holiday, she is struck down by a tropical disease and suffers cardiac failure. But at the eleventh hour, Casey receives a life-saving heart transplant - and a rare second chance to begin again.
Three years later, Casey has become a withdrawn shell of her former self: she is estranged from her loved ones, afraid of open spaces and rides the line between legitimate and criminal work. The worst of her troubles come in the form of violent night terrors; so frightening that she resorts to extreme measures to keep herself from sleeping. When she can take no more, she embarks on a desperate search for the source of her dreams. In so doing, she makes a shocking discovery surrounding the tragic fate of the donor whose heart now beats inside her chest. As she delves deeper into the mystery of her donor, she realizes her dreams are not a figment of her imagination, but a real life nightmare.
