What have you abandoned?

Oh there's no shame in it. And sometimes sharing why you didn't care for a book can inform someone else's decision!

I read it in January. It was difficult getting into the rhythm of the dialect and reading it with a 21st century mindset, but it was worth reading - if just to finally check it off my TBR list.

I just finished it. Getting through the dialog is tough, but I thought it was worth it. Took me a little longer to read than I anticipated. The diaglog slows you down.

I did finish it and it was definitely worth it. Their Eyes Were Watching God is a great book.

I did the same thing - tried reading it twice. Now I'm looking for a new read for Delaware.

I abandoned Waterloo, one of the two books I had been considering for Texas. It is the story of politicians in Austin, and was just not very interesting.

My first abandoned book for this challenge is Shadow Country, which is a mighty tome set in Florida. It won the National Book Award and was a January pick for the Southern Lit group I'm in. I just couldn't get through it... iI do want to read it someday, but I'm putting it aside for this year. I did get a review copy of Vampires in the Lemon Grove: Stories, which will do nicely for Florida as a replacement.
