Kacy (brav3n3wworld) | 8 comments I'd like some ideas for this one. I'm being rather unimaginative right now and am only thinking about the word, "child."

Child 44

Maria | 3 comments Fist, Stick Knife, Gun by Geoffrey Canada has a child on the cover and is a graphic novel so will fit two blocks if you're lucky. It's a memorable story of how violence seeps into the lives of inner city kids from an early age.

Persepolis also has a child on the cover and is an excellent graphic novel depiction (again two boxes!) of a clever young girl growing up during the Iranian revolution.

DeAnna | 38 comments Persepolis is great! You could double-count it as a graphic novel, if you're so inclined.

message 8: by Melissa (new)

Melissa I did some searching for this one and found the following options:
The Diary of a Young Girl Diary of a Young Girl - Anne Frank
To Kill a Mockingbird To Kill a Mockingbird - Harper Lee (the I believe 1988 edition has Scout on the cover)
The Girl with All the Gifts The Girl with All the Gifts - M.R. Carey
I Know This Much Is True I Know This Much is True - Wally Lamb
The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn - Mark Twain
Behind the Beautiful Forevers: Life, Death, and Hope in a Mumbai Undercity Behind the Beautiful Forevers: Life, Death, and Hope in a Mumbai Undercity - Katherine Boo

Linda Yeah this is a hard one for me too. Kids on the cover generally means about kids. Sick kids, stolen kids, kids who were abused, kids who overcame medical conditions/bullying/gender identity problems/religious mania, etc... I am just not interested in kids.

Think I am going to read White Noise by Dan DeLillo. There's an edition with a car on the cover and kids in the backseat.

Nicole Adrienne (nicoleintrovert) | 18 comments Little Bee - Little Bee by Chris Cleave

I used Little Bee for my "chosen because of cover." It stood out to me at a library book sale and it'd been sitting on my shelf. I am currently reading and it is thus far amazing.

message 11: by Kaitlin (new)

Kaitlin | 5 comments Sisterland I used Sisterland. It's about twin sisters but takes places mostly in their adult years. No abuse, cancer, abduction ect. There are flashbacks to their childhood but mostly it focuses on how those things shape the characters as adults.

Katherine (katsikes) | 171 comments I just finished Don't Breathe a Word by Jennifer McMahon (a Booktopia Petoskey author.) It has a child on the cover. Good book - kind of creepy and fairy tale like at the same time. I definitely recommend it - good way to fill this square!
