Alissa (alissamerritt) | 141 comments My sister in Texas has been flooded for the first time like ever, and we're very close here in Wisconsin. Seems a bit apocalyptic.

E. | 86 comments I'm in Texas, it's been raining, no, RAINING for about a month now.
Now, even when it sprinkles for 5 minutes everything starts to flood. There's nowhere for the water to go.
The apocalypse will continue with all of the insects that will flourish over the summer because of it. It's gonna be baaaaaad...

Erin (ems84) | 9065 comments I've been watching the coverage of what has been going on in Texas, the flooding is unbelievable.

Tressa (moanalisa) | 19903 comments Too bad you can't send some California's way.

Not raining much where I'm at, but there's a whole lot of gloomy skies. I hope the apocalypse passes us by.

message 5: by Ken B (new)

Ken B | 6810 comments Yep, I'm in Houston and it is indeed raining. We got 8 inches in the last couple of days at our house in Katy, up to a foot downtown. No flooding problems in Katy but ran into flooding on the drive into downtown yesterday. Almost nobody at the office. Downtown was a ghost town.

Over Memorial Day weekend we were in Hays county where all of the flash flooding happened. We saw where the water had been up over the road but little more than that.

What a lot of people don't understand is that that area has rocky/sandy soil that doesn't absorb or hold much water. When the rain comes that quickly it has nowhere to go. All of the rivers there have posted flash flood notices. It can be a scary place with just a little rain more or less what happened there.

Ken B | 6810 comments Oh...the weather forecast...60% chance of rain for the next 7 days.

message 7: by Tressa (new)

Tressa (moanalisa) | 19903 comments I hate all the death and destruction this flooding is causing Texans. The stories are so sad to read.

Ken B | 6810 comments This pic is from the Daily Mail. I circled my office. The pic was taken yesterday morning. By the afternoon the water had receded quite a bit.

I get into the office about 6am. I skirted most of the issues that later traffic had problems with.

Gary's Houston office is just upstairs from us.

That's a creepy pic.
I'm glad you and your family are ok, Ken.

Is that how you two got to meet each other?

Exactly

GracieKat | 195 comments I'm in Michigan and same here. It's been raining so much I'm starting to feel like a mushroom.

message 16: by Alissa (new)

Alissa (alissamerritt) | 141 comments It's actually sunny today.

message 17: by K4tie (new)

K4tie (nonzombieleader) | 484 comments It's been raining too long here too. I wish all I needed to do was curl up with a book and occasionally nap, but alas I'm stuck working. I miss the sun.

Has anyone seen it?!?!

message 18: by Jim (new)

Jim (powelljf3) | 18 comments I remember the sun, not that I've seen it for a few weeks here in the great Salt Lake Valley. My new rescue is from Apple Valley, CA, and is terrified of rain!

message 19: by Alissa (new)

Alissa (alissamerritt) | 141 comments And it's raining again. Glad I live on high ground.

Laurie (barksbooks) (barklesswagmore) | 1471 comments we have your sun. It hasn't rained here in weeks. All the grass is dead, we have water bans and brush fires. It's bizarre weather in New England. I hope your rain subsides soon.

message 21: by Missy (new)

Missy | 199 comments Your sun is also in Los Angeles. We are grateful for any water can get. We are having a horrible drought.

message 22: by Alissa (new)

Alissa (alissamerritt) | 141 comments I am camping this weekend, so hoping the rain goes away for 2 days.

message 23: by Holly (new)

Holly (goldikova) I'm in Michigan; we have adapted to the dampness.....we thrive on mold spores. If you have never had a sinus infection but would like to experience one, this is the place to visit. However, temps are in the 80's, which hardly ever happens anymore. So I am thrilled to be able to wear my summer clothes; last year I didn't get to wear my sleeveless dresses until I went to Kentucky.

message 24: by Tressa (new)

Tressa (moanalisa) | 19903 comments I saw the sun for an hour yesterday!

message 25: by E. (new)

E. | 86 comments I completely jinxed it by saying "jeez it hasn't rained today..." BOOM crrraCK! Torrents of rain...
...sigh

message 26: by Erin (new)

Erin (ems84) | 9065 comments I was thinking how here in Massachusetts we are in a bit of a drought but starting tomorrow we are suppose to get three days of rain.
