David Weiss (starrover) | 21 comments I read a sci-fic book about 8-10 years ago and it was probably published around then. I don't remember the title or author (I think it was a female author). It was about a spaceship that finds another ship that seems to be abandoned. However, they later find people (or people appear) on the ship that are very old and appear to be sick or dying. I really don't remember any details, but the people they find turn out to be an alien race that is pretending to be incapacitated/dying but have very negative intentions towards anyone who happens to come upon them. Does this ring a bell for anyone?

Janny (jannywurts) | 156 comments Sort of creepy and horrifying? Could be Voyager in Night by C.J. Cherryh.

David Weiss (starrover) | 21 comments Thanks for your input Janny. I read the summary here and I don't think that this is the book, although it sounds like a creepy delight! DAW only publishes mass market paperbacks I think (I'm not sure). I found it in a large public library around 2004-5 and I think it was a hardcover or trade paperback. They would normally not have hardcover sci-fi books from 1984 still on the shelves. I know because I worked there.

No argument it may not be the same book...though the edition I have is a quality hardback - circa 1984/from DAW, not a book club edition, black jacket with a blue-green surreal picture window image on the front.
