Jake Bonner, one of the main characters from Expert Assistance, will be back in short stories and novellas this year. The first of these is now out, HEROES EAT WELL:


After the events of EXPERT ASSISTANCE, Jake is comfortable at last. He’s also bored, as is Odin, the computer that controls his ship. Their boredom comes to a quick end when they stumble across a damaged starship, a woman hiding out from those who attacked the ship, and her mysterious red box.

What is she hiding in the box? Who’s the fellow with a French accent who wants to hire Jake for a diplomatic jaunt? What does food have to do with any of this?

Yep, another JB story is now available. This one is something of a space western, and it's called Above Average Jake. Here's the short synopsis:

Jake Bonner is approached by a senior executive at Interstellar Minerals. The planet of Monument is mineral-rich and lawless. The lack of authority is endangering IM crews picking up ore, and seems to have allowed some sort of smuggling operation to take root. Jake is asked to go to Monument and clean up the town. Will his wits and his cool ship be enough to keep him alive as the planet’s only lawman?
