So far this month we only have one book which is The Lion of Justice written by Leena Lehtolainen. It is about her hired bodyguard a woman. So far I like this series. As always I will put books in when they come out during the month.

Thanks Kenneth. On GRs the listing for the author's series seems to be three books with only number one in English The Bodyguard ....the new book, judging from the cover photo would appear to be third in series!! Any comments?
Her other series is huge....I read the first three and liked them.

Fizzycola | 163 comments The Lion of Justice is #2 in the Bodyguard series.

"The Lion of Justice (The Bodyguard series Book 2) "

There is a third one, too, not translated yet.

If you look on Goodreads she has 4 of 7 in the Maria Kallio series, and 2 of 3 in the Bodyguard series. The 7 and 3 are not translated as of yet. They can't translate them fast enough for me.

message 6: by Fizzycola (new)

Fizzycola | 163 comments There are 12 books in the Maria Kallio series, and we are expecting a 13th in August!

Many of the books have been filmed for TV, too.

Second book for this month has been hiding, it is Doctor Death written by Lene Kaaberbøl. She also wrote The Boy in the Suitcase, so she's not unknown to us. It seems to be a female month to start.

Our fourth book is Exposed at the Back by Arild Stavrum, recommended by Freight, who's a new member. Its also recommended by Jo Nesbo, because it is about football (soccer to US fans). A lot of these books which were published do not get on the booklist (Amazon's Kindle eBook) I go by so if you see a book, by chance let me know.

Even a recommendation by Jo Nesbo won't make me read anything about football! Gotta laugh.

The Drowned Boy by Karin Fossum is out today and it's probably the most moving detective story I've ever read. The latest Inspector Sejer book, set in Norway, and a must read. Find out why here: http://www.crimefictionlover.com/2015...

We are sorry to share the sad news of the passing of translator and academic Laurie Thompson. He was best known for translating the works of Henning Mankell,Håkan Nesser and Åke Edwardson from Swedish to English and I am sure many of us have truly enjoyed his contribution to literature. Our thoughts are with his family and friends.RIP Laurie Thompson 1938-2015
I really preferred books translated by him. R.I.P.

Well I'm in a quandary, I got The Lion of Justice on my kindle,When the Doves Disappeared: A novel from the library, and I bought The Wrong Girl in hardback. Trouble is each of them I've started. I guess I'll finish the library book first. What's sad is there are over 30 books on my kindle I need to read also. Anybody else have this problem.

Luxurious problem..... I had the download of The Wrong Girl about a month ago and should just abort my reading of Night Train to Lisbon because I am bogged down and just cannot make any progress and it feels awful! Never had this for years.....hate not being buried happily in a read! Enjoy yours ....

Finished When the Doves Disappeared: A novel by Sofi Oksanen. James Thompson recommended her when he was alive so I read it and there is so much deception in the book it was good. She lives in Helsinki.

Read a few different writers he translated and was always keen to read a book he'd worked on. Hakan Nesser books as well. Translators are so crucial to the tone of the finished product IMO.
