The Mystery, Crime, and Thriller Group discussion

I remember it being a thickish hardcover with a red cover
It's not really deep dark crime, but a woman gets framed for something she may or may not have done, and gets sent to a woman's pernentery or something where she gets raped. When she comes out years later to get her revenge, she becomes a master thief or something.

I think she falls in love with her rival.
One scene I remember other then the rape is her going on a cruise and swindling money out of two world famous chess players by playing them both at the same time. She wins by setting it up so she copies the moves of the person she is not playing at the time.

Ahh sounds good and thanks for the reminder...I read several Sidney Sheldon 20 or so yrs ago and remember really liking BUT when started reading more again seemed to let him slip through the cracks! Time to add to my To Read list...thx
