Sofie | 9 comments Hello, mystery lovers! My name is Sophie and I'm fond of reading classic mysteries. I prefer witty characters, locked-room mysteries, stories without bloody details so I enjoy reading Agatha Christie and Rex Stout.

In addition, I think Points and Lines, The Globular Wilderness by Seicho Matsumoto & Terrorist's Parasol by Iori Fujiwara are very interesting, because they have an unusual atmosphere. And I really like the novel Three Bags Full by Leonie Swann, that funny sheep detective story.

I want to learn a little more about authors of mysteries from different countries and find friends:)

Bill Welcome to the group, Sophie. I'm sure you'll find many new and interesting mystery authors here. Enjoy!

Points and Lines is a personal favorite, Sophie. Welcome to the group! I absolutely love classic mysteries, and I'm currently working on a project to discover and read books written by more lesser-known women mystery/crime writers.

We have an upcoming buddy read of Christie's The A.B.C. Murders starting June 15th -- you are more than welcome to join in.

Skye | 2105 comments Nancy, by any chance do you write? It would be wonderful if you committed this to a written study; in fact, it's a sensational topic.

I am the first to admit that I have zero writing skills whatsoever. I prefer to read. If you're at all interested, the posts I've made are here . And I'm just getting started.

Skye | 2105 comments Actually, I am. Nancy, you have no idea what a fabulous dissertation topic this would make.

Nancy - hi I'm Lynne - new to group also - wondering how buddy reads work - I'm an avid reader - just finishing writing a modern day version of And Then There Were None which I'm going to be pitching at the Writer's Digest Conference in July. I love mysteries and wanted to get involved in mystery reading groups -
Hope I'm replying correctly

Well, hopefully Sophie doesn't mind. Buddy reads: if you want to follow along, we just make conversation as we're reading the book. Around the 15th I'll post a new topic in the Buddy Reads thread for The ABC Murders, and you just post away. Without spoilers, of course!

Wendy | 581 comments For an overwhelming but FUN challenge, go to this Groups Challenges. There is an on going, no time limit, "UN Book Challenge. We need new blood AKA participants to do it, as most have straggled off.

Skye | 2105 comments I like the 'no time limit."
