message 6: by jaxnsmom (new)

jaxnsmom | 8341 comments I'm starting with Chance Encounter by Jill Shalvis . I randomly opened the book to three pages, on the first one she's imagining his body all hot and naked, on the second one he's staring at her nipples asking if she's cold and volunteering to warm her up, and on the third they've just had sex against a tree in the woods. Hmmm...I wonder what task this book will fit :)

That's hilarious! I'm reading Fifty Shades of Grey (Fifty Shades, #1) by E.L. James so it sounds like we'll be completing the same task. I'm VERY skeptical, but hey, this is the time to do it.

April | 970 comments Getting ready to read The Evidence Against Her: A Novel The Evidence Against Her A Novel by Robb Forman Dew . I have no idea how this book found its way to my shelf but a toppler is the perfect time to have it removed! I hope it's a good one!

It's Wales v France and the score currently stands at 3-3 after 23 mins so a bit tense!!

And while you were doing that I was working on the thread for the winning team ;-)

message 20: by jaxnsmom (new)

jaxnsmom | 8341 comments Ah, but Almeta has it right. We'll be winning while having our wine = wining :)

message 21: by Athena (new)

Athena My first book will be The Hunger Games (The Hunger Games #1) by Suzanne Collins

message 22: by Sam (new)

Sam (ecowitch) | 2354 comments Unfortunately wining is a real word that means entertaining with wine but no winning involved so you lot can have your wine while we'll have our win (and in my case a beer or twoo...or several the way this game is going!)

:-D

Kat, I can't wait to hear your thought on The Thorn Birds. That book is one of my treasures!

message 27: by jaxnsmom (new)

jaxnsmom | 8341 comments Julia - it sounds like you're going for the darker side of Love Stinks :)

Kat - Harlequins certainly don't waste any time. I'm wondering if I should save this for tonight :D

Roz - I looked up your book and realized that I've read it. If you get a little stuck at the beginning, don't give up, it's worth it.

Kat (katzombie) | 2478 comments April wrote: Kat, I can't wait to hear your thought on The Thorn Birds. That book is one of my treasures!

I've read it about 4 or 5 times in my late teens, it was the book that got me started on historical fiction.

When I took it off the shelf earlier I discovered it still has the price tag from when I bought it nearly three years ago on one of my trips home - I can't believe how expensive books are in Australia still - $22 for a paperback!

WOW! Yes, that is expensive. I am very fortunate in that I have a first edition hardback. My mother bought the book when it first came out. She then passed it on to her sisters who passed it on their friends. Everyone who has read the book has signed the inside cover and dated it. Eventually, the book became mine. I will keep it forever!

If Sam's watching the same game i am (and i bet she is) at present, no one is. Not a masterclass of the art.

While watching it I'm one book done. I don't recommend
Never Let Me Go to anyone wanting plot, characterisation, dash, verve, surprise or a memorable read. My granny would have loved it...

message 32: by Sam (new)

Sam (ecowitch) | 2354 comments So the book was as good as most of the match then Helen (apart from these last few minutes of course)?

Pragya (reviewingshelf) | 4030 comments So a lot of smoking hot books in here. How are you doing, Jmom and Julia?

I am a little late as the telly couldn't choose a worse time to premier Sherlock Holmes: A game of shadows. Couldn't possibly miss it, I loved it. And now to get in a few hours reading before I hit the bed. It's 12:10am here Saturday night. Thank God for Sundays.

message 34: by Julia (new)

Julia Gallagher (juliagallagher) | 140 comments I'm not going to lie, it's pretty bad so far. Not finding Christian Grey to be hot - more like a creepy stalker. I actually just started uncontrollably laughing because Ana puts her hair in pigtails in an effort to turn him off.

message 35: by [deleted user] (new)

Well the match picked up in the last 10 minutes - the book didn't >:-)

It's going well here. Except that every now and then I have to tell Jingo to take his mouth off of my arm (he doesn't bite but gets quite mouthy, a habit I'm trying to break). I'm halfway through Chance Encounter, it's a quick and easy read. No sex yet, but lots of heavy breathing and arousal - the characters, not me :D

Fruit machine!!

I didn't decide until the start which book I was going to read. I have about fifteen boks and five downloads so I could have a variety to choose from.

I had to abandon this one and tell myself I'd try again later. The characters were just too stereotyped for me. Good luck with it!
