I have just finished this book and i was surprised at how the author managed to fit so much into a much smaller story. Not everything in this book is steampunk but there is enough that it satisfied my pallet for it. This is my first topic and even though i have a few more books in front of me, such as Nimbus a Steampunk novel, I have not finished it, and so far there is no romance. The 2nd Realm is the only book that fits this group and this discussion. If you haven't read it i will try not to spoil too much for you, but still give you enough to let you know the little things. The book is more about the soul or how the story tells it, the life's energy, and how it goes to another place upon death. in the second chapter we meet Charlotte, who is killed in a tragic way that her energy goes to this realm where she falls in love with a soldier, later in the book, the author finds an interesting way for the two spirits to make love being that they are dead and have no feeling. The other heroin is an archeologist named Mandolyn and she is engaged to a man that out of love for her, dies saving her, and of course gets sent to this realm of souls. Even at the end when all hope is lost Mandolyn tries to let the villain know that love is all her ever needed. I don't want to give too much away being this is a new book and all, but i thought for this group it perfect for the topic. What do all of you have to say, i'm kind of excited because this is wicked fun.
Cool, someone else read this book, yes this is a new author and the book is really new. I like how Mandolyn is still able to see and interact with her fiance even though he is dead. She get a hold of a key and the energy makes it to where she can interact with the whole realm, i like how it gave a bit of conflict for the couple and how they just keep on loving each other even though he is dead. I am curious to see how things go for Charlotte/Jake and Mandolyn/Paul whit the end of the book going the way it did, but it is only the first of three so I can't wait to find out.
