* she lives with people who aren't her parents
* her parents are dead
* she controls lightning and Harry has a lightning scar
* someon is coming to take her away to a boarding school for kids with magic.

I have to admit i'm about half way through this one and after a slow start I haven't been able to stop. I can see myself easily finishing this one tonight.

I found the beginning quite slow too.

I was asking everyone at the office today what element they would choose to control if they had the ability to do so and I picked fire. What would you guys choose?

up to 78% (view spoiler)[ Okay, so I've had this on text-to-speech whilst decorating, and I have to say I like it a lot more that way! I don't know why but I think this is one of those books that I prefer to listen to. anyway...

* the thing with the playing cards and the bodyguards irritated me a bit. It was a little unnecessary. I get that we needed to see Ava soften them up a bit, but so much stuff about the card games was irritating. I really, really wanted to know what happened next! Not spend all this time going on about the card game, I feel like this could be streamlined a bit so that we see her soften up the guards, but at the same time the reader gets to know what happens next a lot faster.

* I can't believe they want her to share a bed with Nathan! Are they like trying to arrange the marriage already?
