Romance Readers Reading Challenges discussion

Hi guys! I'm trying to reread this book but I can't find it in my Goodreads lists at all and I went through all 700+ of them and I can't find it. Ugh! Frustrating.... anyway,

the book is a Military romance, he's active duty, army I wanna say, setting maybe California. The only scene I remember is him and the girl are in a hanger with fellow soldiers ready to deploy. He's sitting down leaning against a column with the girl in between his legs. He's says something about he's parents not coming because he couldn't take his mom crying and his girl crying. It's time to go and she takes his helmet from his hands and places it on his head and straps it. She's crying, i think she begs him not to go at the last second. He leaves and I think his sister or the girl's friend gives her a letter after he's on the plane.

Help me pretty please with a cherry and Reese's Peanut Butter Cups on top!

Can anyone suggest a juicy, exciting romance set in Medieval England? Or better yet a romance featuring a gritty, viking hero and a servant girl? I cannot find anything remotely close to what I want to read.

Delka, you're more likely to get some answers if you post the question in the Historical Romance group.
