By E.E. Cummings

dive for dreams
or a slogan may topple you
(trees are their roots
and wind is wind)

trust your heart
if the seas catch fire
(and live by love
though the stars walk backward)

honour the past
but welcome the future
(and dance your death
away at this wedding)

never mind a world
with its villains or heroes
(for god likes girls
and tomorrow and the earth)

[E.E. Cummings, ninety-five poems]

No worries, Manny. I like this a lot, I would say it was worth waiting for.

I love the sentiment in this poem Manny - I think it's wise. My favorite lines are "trust your heart / if the seas catch fire".

This is the second poem by e e Cummings shared as a Monday Poem, and I've quite liked both of them!

I like what you said...I was struggling how to put into words my feelings reading this poem, but it definitely touched me.

Shirley | 4177 comments I've read this through quite a few times now, like I always do with poems that aren't instantly understandable. And I like it more and more. I love the third verse the best - what a wonderful way of looking at life.
