Jeffrey Collyer I have a quick question about etiquette here on Goodreads. My new fantasy novel was self-published a couple of weeks ago, and I can see that a couple of people have added it to their TBR list.

The part of me that is grateful that they want to read it (even knowing that most books on TBR lists don't get read), wants to message them and just say thanks, and I hope they enjoy it as and when they get round to it.

Another part of me worries that might be considered unwelcome spam by a new author.

Can anyone tell me which part of me is right on this?

Thank you.

D.S. Wrights (dswrights) Don't do it. I know the feeling, but for most people shelving something on their tbr list is nothing out of the ordinary. Even though for us indies it's a big thing.

But it will come off desperate to the most, to few maybe sweet. But it's like thanking someone to picking up a book and putting it down again, like you'll follow them out of the bookstore just to say 'thank you so much for looking at my book'. You'd find it strange too, right?
