Audiothing Is there an easy, one stop area to find the whispersync deals? As it is, I just come across them by chance

Jessica (jessical1961) | 519 comments My Kindle app for Android has a button in it that says something like "Find Upgrades". You click on that button and it finds all of the Audio Books for whatever books you own. You have to be careful though. Not all of them are cheap. So far prices for mine have ranged from .99 cents to $12.99.

Thanks, I hadn't thought to find them on Amazon rather than Audible

thanks for the link… I never saw it on Amazon before, but I was able to pick up the Audible recordings for several books I have, at good prices too.

Kathleen | 354 comments I thought that if I borrowed a book via Amazon Prime, I could pick up the audio book at Whispersync prices, but I'm not seeing where I can do that. Apparently I have to literally purchase the kindle version first. It isn't showing up with upgrades for kindle books.

Jan | 532 comments Kathleen - I found I need to do it on the Audible site. If the book is on your kindle - go to Audible and see if the whispersync price is showing.

Audible's website specifically says I can get the Whispersync if I BUY the kindle version.

Jan | 532 comments :( sorry about that, Kathleen. I don't use Prime but when I have downloaded books from the library through Overdrive I am able to purchase the audio for the whispersync price. I have never had it not work for me. I guess Prime is different.

message 11: by Audiothing (new)

Audiothing That's how it works Kathleen, you buy the book and, if it's one of their deals, you can then purchase the audiobook at a greatly reduced price

Jessica (jessical1961) | 519 comments I have dowmloaded many ebooks via Overdrive onto my kindle then gone to amazon.com and bought tha audiobook at the whispersync price without ever actually buying the ebook.

Hmm. Thanks for that tip. Didn't know that could be done. :-) Anything to save, I say.

Wow! How do you do that? I use Overdrive for my library books but can't seem to find anything related to Whispersync. How does Amazon know you have the book if you didn't get it from them? This is marvellous, I need to discover how to do it

message 16: by Jan (new)

Jan | 532 comments Bec - It only works for the kindle books you download from overdrive. What I do is select Kindle book in Overdrive and it takes me to Amazon where you download the book to your device. Once it is on your kindle or device with kindle app the whispersync price should show up on Audible when you go to the book's page. Then you make your purchase through Audible. Hope that makes sense. I do it all the time.

Audiothing oh, my Overdrive app takes me to my library where I get the choice of E-books or audio, can't find a mention of Kindle so far, but I will investigate!
I'm in Australia, maybe you library has a deal going with Amazon, just guessing here. I guess I could just email my library!

Jan | 532 comments Too bad - yes, it's probably set up differently for you. I have found that most US libraries send you to Amazon to download once you choose the Kindle format on overdrive.

No Overdrive in Au doesn't have the same options as the USA overdrive. Here in Australia we can only get epub or overdrive versions, in the USA there is an option for the Kindle version as well, and you need to Kindle version to access the whispersync deals.

I've just had a look at the UK Overdrive help pages and it says that the Kindle Book format is available to U.S. libraries only.
