2. Why did you join a book club?
I love to read and being able to discuss books allows you to see things you may have missed or view a story from a different viewpoint than your own.
3. Do you think that everyone should be a part of a book club? Why or why not?
Only readers, of course! Some people don't benefit from a book club because they aren't interested in other points of view and that's fine, but they don't belong in book groups.
4. What do you think "outsiders" (people not a part of the subculture) think about book clubs or books in general?
My husband is NOT a reader and I know he sees my book clubs and groups as a chore, but I view them as pleasure. Different strokes.
5. What do you think are the positives of being a part of a book club?
Again, the benefit of other view points.
6. What do you think are the negatives of being a part of a book club?
I sometimes feel I have to read something I otherwise wouldn't simply for the group's sake. Sometimes this leads to a new discovery, but sometimes it feels like a job.
7. Do you prefer paper books, e-books, or audiobooks? Why?
I still buy collectible books and certain author's first editions, but for the most part I buy e-books because they take almost no room and are much less expensive.
This post can be deleted now, if anyone is able to do that. I don't see where I'm able too.

Kandice, I agree with everything that you said in your response to Kelly. I've always been a reader and loved books. When a book group began at my work, I thought what a wonderful idea! And it has expanded my range of books and views about certain forms of writing. And from that group, I found out about Goodreads. And these book groups are interesting because they are very similar to the 'physical' book club. You can choose to take part in reading a particular book or not; you find out about the people in the group and often get really close to them and you're sharing not only opinions about books but your lives. Hope I don't sound too analytical but I didn't expect that when I started to sign up online for this or the other book groups.
All the best on your research paper, Kelly!
For my college English class I have to write a couple papers about a certain subculture and I choose to write about book clubs. My final paper is a researched-based argumentative essay and I have to include an interview in it so I figure I'd post in here and see if anyone wants to be a part of paper since I'm not a part of any local book clubs. The only "personal information" I need is a first and last name, but feel free to make one up it really doesn't matter. I only need 1 person to answer the questions, but the more the merrier.
The questions are:
1. First and last name
2. Why did you join a book club?
3. Do you think that everyone should be a part of a book club? Why or why not?
4. What do you think "outsiders" (people not a part of the subculture) think about book clubs or books in general?
5. What do you think are the positives of being a part of a book club?
6. What do you think are the negatives of being a part of a book club?
7. Do you prefer paper books, e-books, or audiobooks? Why?
Feel free to add in any other information you think would be helpful
Thank you!
