Books on the Nightstand discussion

Hello: We have a chalkboard wall at work with a monthly theme. This month they have asked us to write the names of fictional characters who have integrity. I walked by this morning and noticed they are virtually all men. Please help me add some balance to this skewed world. What suggestions would you have for female characters with integrity?

Jo March from Little Women? She falters but works on herself quite a lot.

i'm not sure about jean brodie, to be honest! although, i hated that book so maybe i'm biased. :)

Thanks for the suggestions...I knew I could count on you! I'll weave in some of these women among the men on the board. Your suggestions have also organized themselves into a yet another TBR list in my head. : )

i didn't think she had intergrity either! i thought she was really manipulative and essentially got what she deserved.
