There are books that repeatedly appear on reading lists and this year I aim to cross a few off of my list (not all of them). Anyone fancy helping out by posting any you've noticed? or joining in:)
Any feedback on the books would be helpful x

Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (Hunter S. Thompson) is one I keep seeing on lists and hearing a lot about. That and On The Road (Jack Kerouac). They're both on my ever-increasing to-read list.

I'm hoping to read Lolita and The Name of the Rose this year. I've tried to start East of Eden many times, but I never seem to get that far with it. Maybe it's time to try again? :)

I have tried to read On the Road twice and it is the book I really can't understand being rated so highly. I think it's the fact that I lived as part of such a transient/traveller community for so long that it just seems so weak. That kind of life can be so interesting and he makes it so dull lol.

Let me know when you fancy reading Lolita and I'll start at the same time. I have a beautiful copy of The Name of the Rose but I'm going to start with the less weighty books to get my to-read list down.

Fear and Loathing has been mentioned a fair bit - added. Thanks mate x

Finny (angeldance5) | 23 comments I have read Lolita and enjoyed it, could not get into Slsughterhouse 5 at all and gave up. I really want to read The Pillars of the Earth, just going to watch the last episode of the TV adaptation (which was amazing).

Breige (breigeflynn) | 87 comments Only one I've read is The Bell Jar! Which I really liked. I did try to read Lolita once but I think I was 14/15 so I didn't get far, it is one I've been meaning to try again. That and Clockwork Orange, I've tried to read that and gave up.

Middlesex is on my reading resolution list for this year, so once I've got it crossed off I'll update you on it! :)

I loved it, too. I read all five parts when I was a teenager, and I've been meaning to go back to them. I think I'd probably enjoy them even more now, if anything. Another to add to my re-read list!
